1.) As a developer I used to interact with it when I'm building apps that consume APIs at scale, another good point is that it comes with the GUI CLI tools to design the APIs quickly. 2.) It saves tons of repetitive work by auto generating API specs, test cases and validations. 3.) Also helps in debugging production issues and optimizing APIs.
1. Complexity & Steep Learning Curve: Initial setup and configuration can be difficult, especially for teams new to API management. 2. Performance & Stability Issues: Some users report latency & occasional reliability problems under heavy workloads. 3. High Cost & Licensing Challenges: Pricing is considered expensive compared to competitors.Licensing models can be confusing for organizations scaling usage.
Not truly fit for purpose for SOAP APIs - problems stemming from handling of SOAP as ReST (wrapping SOAP specifications with an OAS / Swagger). Hit and miss OAS support - partial support at best. Really poor Validation Policy implementation. No mechanisms to enforce unique API address scheme - allows contention (multiple APIs registered to the same address), and allows this scenario to play-out in the most confusing of ways - without any warning.
From a developer's point of view : 1.) It's not just writing an API and running it, we've got to understand products, plans, catalogs, lifecycle stages. That's a lot of concepts to learn before you even deploy your first API. 2.) Requires multiple components like management server, gateway, portal. For a small project it feels like using a tank to kill a mosquito. 3.) When something breaks, logs are scattered, errors are not always clear, gateway policies can silently fail, and so debugging is painful and takes longer than writing the API sometimes.
