Cisco Meraki MX appliances Likes & Dislikes

Like

- Build in cloud directly, the interface is very easy to use, and it help the local it team to administrate the solution and easy the set-up - The API, everything is accessible through API, make it a easy to automate action, and retrieve information - Plug and play, if the provider give you a DHCP , there is no local action to perform, that reduce the need to have competent network people for each installation

Like

It has a cloud-based control panel that greatly simplifies configuration and ongoing management, even across multiple sites

Like

For small, interconnected sites it's probably the easiest VPN / Security product that I've used. The ability to use Entra for wifi auth is nice as well. API access is available which is also nice. For people just getting started with VPN's and small office without dedicated network staff it shines.

Dislike

Product lack of some key features, that other solution have : - LACP - more in depth RBAC - Firewall L7 with application - Advanced BGP routing options

Dislike

Limitations in advanced customization and total dependence on the cloud

Dislike

API access seems very rate limited compared to other products. VPN interoperability with other vendors is very hit or miss, and a huge missing feature is being able to reset a VPN tunnel. Their solution is to reboot the device which obviously brings everything down.
