OpenText Access Manager (NetIQ) Likes & Dislikes

Like

Support for multiple protocols, including new protocols like Open ID and OAUTH. You can continue using protoclos like WS Federation and SAML to integrate apps that don't support the new protocols. We can customize logins for different use cases with SSO integration. We can configure or brokering between protocols like Oauth and SAML to avoid asking our users for a double login. Directories of different technologies can be read to create attributes for SSO integrations. Virtual attributes can be created to generate some kind of logic in logins.

Like

The whole capabilities to be integrated with the rest of the company platforms

Like

The ability to consume objects from different sources (db, directories) and perform on-the-fly transactions and enable session transformations. The high level of customization allows us to create specific experiences for our users. An extensive catalog of APIs to create our own processes out of the box. First and second level support have quite a lot of experience in the product and in implementations.

Dislike

When making any configuration you have to do a soft reset. Console screens and error messages should have a view more appropriate to the current user experience. Complexity in adding classes and contracts for integrations.

Dislike

Lack of documentations, some difficulties opening cases with support.

Dislike

Endpoints must be reset to release new application configurations. Third-level support may be a little slow. The process for requesting enhancements requires voting in support forums.

Robust custom integrations and efficient performance limited by user experience

The product is very robust in terms of functionality and the ability to create custom integrations and features. It does not require excessive computing resources to provide good performance. The native look and feel is not very attractive and, in some ways, is not intuitive.

The pre-sales and technical support teams are outstanding - truly among the most professional and well-prepared I've ever encountered. If you ever need help, their support team responds quickly and efficiently. Everyone I've ever worked with at OpenText is highly knowledgeable, experts in their field, and they often resolve issues completely in just one remote support session. OpenText products are investments that allow an organization to create future-proof solutions.
