We use the full suite of Paylocity modules, and it has been less costly using the full suite than the lower tier of our former system. In addition to the cost savings, the modules have hit just about every objective on what we were needing as an HR team and a company.

I cannot express enough how disappointed I am in this product. Everything from implementation to the final product has been difficult. We were told that our payroll would be processed by Paylocity. Unfortunately, that is not true. They white label a third party for their Canadian payroll and we are now working on two separate payroll systems. Tax compliance is hit or miss and must be monitored closely. The basic payroll features that should be simple are increasingly complicated and require multiple workarounds.

    Paylocity Offers Strong HRIS Features But Support Response Remains Problematic

    Paylocity is a great HRIS with a lot of capabilities and an ever-working team behind the scenes that is working on product development to offer the most competitive solution. Paylocity's downfall absolutely comes in the form of service. The support team is slow to get back, slow to resolve, and frequently has no solution.

    Not Bad, But Some Hiccups

    I use Paylocity on a daily basis. Compared to other like-products, I would classify it as a good product, but there are things that could take it to a great status that Paylocity has yet to implement. For the most part, the usability has good functionality. The admin/backend side is clunky, however, requiring a lot of extra steps that could be streamlined.

    Expenses are very easy to understand. There are some great features that alert managers before the payroll batch. Paylocity requires admins to carry out the tasks needed to be completed based on their guidance but they are not going to do everything for you./

Paylocity Payroll Software Likes & Dislikes

Like

One thing I appreciate most about Paylocity is the product upgrades. You have the ability to offer feedback, and we have seen quite a few improvements made over the years from requests we have made (and most likely other users). The modules are very comprehensive, and just about every need we have as a team can be addressed by a module in the system. The reporting features and ability to share report access with managers has significantly decreased the effort needed from my team. Overall, the system is very user friendly for our employees and our HR team, and we are satisfied with the decision to use the platform.

Like

The longer we use the program, the less I like it. We are currently utilizing the bare minimum with this system because the features are either not available as promised or do not properly function.

Like

The product itself is user-friendly, easy to administer, and intuitive in terms of where key functions are at. Paylocity does listen and work to offer good HRIS solutions.

Dislike

One thing that was not made clear during the demo and initial evaluation is that Paylocity can not process Payroll for international countries directly in the system. Instead, we use BlueMarble to process our Canada payroll. This wasn't a complete deterrent, but we would definitely like to see everything integrated fully into one system to provide a seamless experience for our Canada team and Payroll admin.

Dislike

There are multiple payroll platforms that we are required to use. Updates on one system do not automatically transfer to the other system. This means that we are completing a lot of tasks. Tax Compliance - The system is inconsistent and requires constant monitoring to catch issues that never should have happened. Attendance Monitoring - We were told our employees would be able to easily transfer between different job codes on their timecards. The amount of manual intervention required to manage this has depleted any confidence I have in this feature.

Dislike

As mentioned previously, Paylocity lacks a lot on the support side. They are constantly going through account reps, so you often have a newbie that knows less about the system than you trying to trouble shoot. Additionally, I often get told This is a known problem with no ETA on resolution. Issues will go on for 6 months that are systemic and we get no update on when things will get better.
