Honestly, my overall experience has been very positive. The tool integrated surprisingly well with our other Microsoft products, which was a big plus. It's main strength is definitely the visualization feature. Seeing the reel process map laid out, instead of the one we thought we had, uncovered so many hidden delays in our system

“Solid Starter for Process Mining in the MS Environment ”

3.0
Sep 11, 2025
My overall experience with Power Automate Process Mining has been positive, especially as an org deeply integrated into the Microsoft ecosystem. The platform offers a user-friendly (familiar to the other MS products) interface and seamless compatibility with other MS products, making it an great starting point for process mining and automation needs in a MS-centric environment. However, there are notable limitations. PAPM tends to be less agile compared to some of the other process mining tools on the market, particularly when working outside the MS ecosystem or integrating with non-Microsoft platforms.

Power Automate Process Mining Likes & Dislikes

What I like most is how it turns raw data into a clear picture. The process map it automatically generates is amazing. Instead of looking at spreadsheets, you see a flowchart of how work actually gets done. This visual approach helped us immediately spot redundant steps and bottlenecks we never knew we had.

Like the rest of the Power Automate, Process Mining is designed for simplicity and intuitiveness in building and modeling flows and processes. This results in a pleasant user experience and facilitates rapid adoption of the technology across the organization. Additionally, the extensive documentation available empowers users to quickly resolve level 1 issues on their own, further enhancing usability and reducing dependency on support teams.

Dislike

First, the initial data preparation is a huge hurdle. You need perfectly formatted logs, and that can take a lot of time to get right. Second, the licensing is quite confusing and can get expensive quickly depending on usage. Finally, there is a definitely steep learning curve to master the advanced analytics features.

Dislike

When trying to connect or integrate with our external platforms outside the MS environment, it's more challenging to do data ingestion and set up.

From a security standpoint, we see limitations in the level of detail provided by the logs regarding user modification. While logs are available, they are not sufficiently detailed for investigative purposes, especially when dealing with sensitive information. This lack of granularity in user activity tracking can pose challenges in environments where data security and auditability are critical.
