Proctorio was unveiled to facilitate online assessment without demanding much manual intervention in invigilation. The capability of the cheating recognition contributed to the sense of accomplishment and ensured the credibility of the online classes.
I think, below are the points which I like most about Proctoria: - Easy to use compared to other platforms I have used. Instructions for setup are clear. - It has good customer support, I had some issue in mock exam and they resolved it shortly. - It helps to maintain the integrity of the exam without failures.
The system often alarms to normal movement or noise, which is a nuisance to students and adds stress. Another weakness is lack of flexibility since the students sensitivity cannot be set depending on the specific type of exam.
Students are spied on for pretty much every minor move and glance, including looking away from the screen to pick up a pen, resulting in interruptions and begging. This not only takes so much of my time but also evokes anxiety in students.
I have observed that sometimes Proctorio flags normal behavior as suspicious. Which can be improved. Having this running in the background during an exam can a bit distraction during the exam, as I found myself worrying about getting flagged instead of focusing on the exam. If your internet connectivity drops for some time, Proctorio freaks out.
