Samsara is designed from the ground-up to integrate with its customers' internal systems. Integration options include an extensive suite of REST/APIs, real-world/near-real-time/event-driven webhooks, stream connectors to modern messaging systems, and native SSO/SAML/SCIM support for IDP integrations. As a general rule of thumb, my experience is that if Samsara has the information, then there's a way to consume it. So far, I haven't seen any exceptions to that rule.
The fact that when a check engine light come on I get a code and tell me about what going on.
I really appreciate that the product is under constant development and proven. That's a huge selling point compared to some competitors which have basically stopped their development work years ago and are not welcoming of feedback and development requests.
For me, this is a hard question to answer. I have encountered limitations that were show-stoppers to one or more business initiatives; however, in every single case I have been able to work out a solution with the support team assigned to our account. I can think of at least two cases where the answer was as simple as making a feature request and the feature was rolled out within a three month period. However, if I had to pick something, I would say the rate limits on the REST/APIs can be kind of a drag. Still, every time we have to adjust the rate limits on an endpoint, Samsara always finds a way to get us to optimal speeds.
The reports are not the best when it comes to easy of use.
Integration of other systems with Samsara has been somewhat complicated by lack of detail in the documentation of their API library. That issue can be resolved through a statement of work to discuss details with Engineering, but better documentation would be a better solution.
