Sandler has a world renowned process that is proven to help you sell. The in-person training is effective, comprehensive, and helpful. I really liked the weekly workbook, exercises and the supplemental online videos. Taking this training in conjunction with our sales team was really helpful to understand their process.
The Sandler methodology works well, esp when selling software or tech related services. Principles are associated with catchy analogies, like don't spill your candy in the lobby or strip lining. Even if we didn't end up rigidly following the Sandler methodology, the basic sales principles helped level up the team and help coach greener sellers to not be as nervous or go fetch as much.
1) IT WORKS. Especially if Senior Leadership is supportive and involved. You will see immediate results in all levels of your commercial organizations 2) It creates a common language for the commercial teams across all geographies and business units 3) It raises the level of professionalism for the sales force and how relatively important they are in the organization
It's so comprehensive, it's hard to take it all in during one 10 week training! Ideally, as a sales person, you'd be able to go through the process multiple times to hone and sharpen your skills. They do have a Sales Master program that allows you to do this.
From coach to coach and provider to provider, there still seemed to be quite a variance of how they delivered the material and content, and the approach they took to group training and coaching calls. I've encountered two Sandler providers and both had their own spin.
1) It is not easy to master. It needs to be reinforced in sales meetings and continuous training 2) Virtual training is not as effective as in person 3) They have trained so many people, sometimes you will come across someone who has adopted the same processes and will mention it during the sales call...I see what you are doing
