SAP Ariba's key strengths 1. Strong workflow-driven control and scalability - clear approvals and repeatability 2. Well-enabled processes within the system 3. Drives consistent execution and compliance across procurement and financial technology landscape
The ability to centralise our purchase requests, and integrate with third parties such as Amazon Business have been a huge win for the company. When it works, it works well, and can even make the process of purchasing lower value items easier, negating the need for individual expense reports for very small items (this of course brings a huge time saving for our finance teams).
Below are the key standout features 1. End-to-end procurement digitalization - covers the complete lifecycle from sourcing (RFP/Auction/NFA) to ordering and invoicing all within a single unified platform 2. Supplier collaboration & transparency - Strong supplier portal capabilities for bid participation, order acknowledgement, and invoice submission, leading to better engagement and transparency with the supplier on the complete procurement process. 3. Real-time tracking and auditability - provides clear visibility into transaction status and maintains a strong audit trail, which is critical for governance and compliance.
Major issues of the product are 1. Limited capacity to customize based on business requirements 2. UI/UX is outdated and difficult to navigate. Not an intuitive design, requires extensive training. 3. Limited features are available on portable applications (mobile/tablet). Restricts action on the go.
The UI is not polished, and the steps from search to purchase to billing seem convoluted. Despite the best efforts of our internal teams to train all staff, infrequent users feel like a training refresh is needed each time they use as the tool isn't intuitive.
The main limitation is the lack of flexibility in customization to meet evolving business needs, which can impact agility. Additionally, some enhancements and changes are dependent on standard configurations or external support, which can increase TAT.
