The product offers modules that cover vitually all the needs of the procurement department and process governance. It provides extensive support, and the company has a wide network of business partners for support services, ensuring we are not dependent on AMS providers.
They are a proven player in the spend management space. The tool is intuitive and easy to use. Along with having robust and a wide breadth of functionality. Being a Cloud tool, the system offers flexibility in configuration. There are some very knowledgeable people that have been supporting the system for many years.
The concept behind SAP Ariba is the most interesting part of it: a global cloud-based platform that helps connect suppliers and buyers worldwide and helps to standardize the procurement process.
The contracts module lacks an efficient clause library and offers limited integrations options - or even a native CRM tool - for contracts discussions and management. Within Ariba, these capabilities are weak, and the alternative suggested by SAP, SAP Fieldglass, falls short due to its poor multilingual support (especially for Brazilian Portuguese). Additionally , the header fields are completely locked and require customization for even minor changes, which is highly incovenient. The comparative quote map could also be significantly more intelligent.
The problem is not really the system itself, but the support structure in place when things go sideways.
Customization can be challenging, especially when trying to tailor workflows to specific business needs. Despite its flexibility, some limitations in adapting the platform to unique processes can slow down deployment and adoption.

SAP's brand positioning of Suite First disenfranchises many Ariba customers, us included. We do not have an SAP ERP and many of the offerings focus mainly on customers that do. For example, AI is one of those. It seems that SAP wants to dictate to their smaller customers and are not listening to our needs. There is too much red tape for smaller clients to have to go through. Our success is dictated by the quality of our Account Team, and there are no complaints here. Many customers without a good SAP Ariba support team will go through a lot of frustration with trying to get things done. Where SAP Ariba currently lacks is there customer support as there is a lack of urgency when tickets are filed. We have purchased an upgraded service offering and we do not feel we are getting the bang for the buck. Ariba brings clear cost benefits, but at the expense of frustrating end user experience
SAP Ariba has been rolled out across the company over the last couple of years, and almost without exception day to day users have complained of difficulty using the system, even though almost all are fully in support of the rationale for a central purchasing tool such as this.
