One big problem we have with SAP IDM is reliability. Some systems or users from time to time feed IDM with bad data. According to our 3rd party implementer, there is no way for SAP IDM to make the system more robust for example by applying rigid data validation at all interfaces. At the same time, the solution provides very poor error reporting capabilities. There is no log file and there are not error messages appearing on the screen. For example when we do a mass upload you can not parse and validate the input file and you also never get an error message in case the file has the wrong format or has an invalid entry. Our log file implementation is based on e-mails which are sent to one mailbox. Pretty awkward solution I'd say.
I lack any demerit concerning this tool as it meets all our objectives.
