(2022 original review) - The best part about this product is it's ability to act as a central identity management platform; hosting all identity attributes from various connected sources. It can easily transform and parse data for use in other tools. One of the main use-cases is taking data from an HR management tool, creating an identity based on available attributes, and automatically provisioning the user in Active Directory. This includes email, home directory, phone number, manager, etc. If a data source exists and there's an available attribute, IDN can automate it. (2026 update) - It's just simply versatile. With a bit of API, scripting, and Java knowledge, you can dynamically connect this this product to almost anything. Leverage it to automate provisioning, access reviews, and automated identity actions. As of today, it's saving us about 160 hours per month of manual work (i.e., because we were able to automate that much with it).

The virtual appliance architecture and implementation because it's scalable and very robust in my opinion, and I have worked closely with SailPoint support to further improve it after encountering issues during our implementation. Provided REST APIs and their supporting documentation. We have leveraged the available APIs to our advantage to further automate processes such as mass role creation in order to make our lives easier during go-lives or testing and validation processes. The documentation for APIs specifically is better than the connector documentation is currently, having examples of API calls in multiple programming languages would be helpful. Identity Insights - this allowed teams to view certain types of auto provisioned access for individuals, departments or job codes. We gained a lot of value out of having this functionality out of the box with SailPoint ISC and we did not have to spend time and resources investing in an aging home-grown tool that would need more updates with the change in identity platform.
(2022 original) - The web interface leaves much to be desired. Until very recently, the ability to sort only existed in the search area and a few of the admin areas. The ability to quickly and intuitively see configuration settings (this is within the Admin portion of the tool) is lacking. It feels like SailPoint makes a great demo product, but one that is tedious and click-centric to manage within the UI/web portal. (2026 update) - The UI has all changed considerably. It's much improved from a few years ago. If you know where to look, the data is available. They've also included MUCH more functionality through the UI and made it easier to perform many functions that were previously only available using Postman and API calls. That said, the demo-focused UI is still my biggest dislike with this product.

There is a lack of insight into some of the major components in ISC relating to tasks such as the 'on the 8's' job and the queues/tasks that appear when identity refreshes or aggregations and other activities occur. There is an absolute need to better document and make these more understandable to customers and configurable where applicable. We were unhappy to have to open a ticket to change the 'one the 8's' job because it was negatively impacting our production tenant during a go-live, this should have been easier to configure or change. The Saas connectors seem to be inconsistent and need work or change in order to meet the functionality of the non-Saas counterparts that use the on-prem VAs to do the work for the connector. This has been an issue we have run into multiple times when trying to implement them, we were excited at the prospect of less reliance on on-prem hardware but issues with things like partitioning not being available for SaaS connectors meant we spent time getting them working or trying to get them working to the level we needed only to fail and have to fall back to the on-prem versions. The connector documentation is honestly my single biggest issue with SailPoint ISC. It's severely lacking in detail and supporting information, often has incorrect or out of date data, and is lacking in helpful screenshots or example data.

2022 (original review) - From an administrator perspective, IdentityNow is certainly capable of LOTS of organizational use-cases surrounding the IAM space. Overall, the tool has the potential to be hugely helpful with scaling automated provisioning and de-provisioning of identities, AND providing the ability to audit access. 2026 (updated review) - SailPoint has clearly improved the product. Both by making it easier to use and by adding new capabilities. We have also witnessed a shift in their customer relations and professional services. While initially, it was difficult to have a good relationship with SailPoint, they have dramatically improved and now provide what I would consider top tier customer service. SailPoint ISC Deployment: A Challenging Yet Rewarding Experience with Strong Support
Deploying SailPoint ISC has been one of the toughest challenges of my career so far, it's no simple task to entirely replace an existing identity platform with a new one. SailPoint has provided hundreds of hours of support and guidance to understand our current environment and needs and helped us with our implementation to keep us on track with our desired goals and crafted some unique and interesting solutions to problems we have encountered along the way. SailPoint clearly has a number of very smart individuals globally that work hard to provide customers with consistent solutions to drive identity management forward. My overall experience with our SailPoint partner is exceptional because of the people that make up SailPoint, from the customer success team to the helpdesk team, to the technical experts, and to those at the very top like the founder and CEO, who genuinely listens to the voice of the customer and who seeks out engaging with SailPoint's customer base when hosting the annual Navigate conference. He is there, he is visible, he is committed to his customers, to the identity space, and the icing on the cake is that there is no pretense, none. We have had our customer success manager since our implementation, over 3 years now. She is our partner and is someone who time and time again is there for us, is super responsive, gets eyes on our issues like the speed of light when we reach out to her, clearly, she is highly respected and connected because she makes things quickly happen.
