We still believe that we made the right technical choice based on our situation, where the old platform did not meet the new business strategy where becoming a data driven organization was a key element. As part of the migration to the Cloud, moving from a SAS 9.4 platform on-prem to a SAS Viya Hosted Managed Platform was the most reasonable choice within the timeline we had available.
For anyone in the same situation, and with a lot of legacy SAS code, I would recommend SAS Viya as a natural path forward. The overall experience with this platform has so far been very good, except for some challenges in being an early bird for SAS Viya with SingleStore and Airflow as a Hosted Managed Platform.

“Building custom tools is flexible, but dashboards feel clunky”
I like that you can build your own tools and models and flow everything together into visuals and connect multiple languages, however, the dashboards when building your own views can be chunky and need constant resizing to flow well with the dashboard and when you change a view I'd expect all other views would shrink. Runtime is long for certain procedures, this could most certaintly be an internal problem. handling large data sets and updating them then refreshing to see in the dashboards is time consuming, was expecting instantaneous connections.
