SolarWinds Observability Likes & Dislikes
The best part I like about this product is that it bring everything together such as server, application, cloud and network monitoring. I really like the real time alerts, which helps us to fixes before they turn into major problems. It is saving my lots of times.
The IPAM tooling built into Solarwinds is OK, but you can get better products dedicated to that. In terms of monitoring, the simple stuff such as ping and snmp polling is easy enough to configure. Getting devices hooked into Solarwinds is managable.
The key strength of SolarWinds Observability is its comprehensive network monitoring capabilities> The platform offers real time visibility into network devices, intuitive dashboards and configurable alerts, which help in proactive issue detection and faster troubleshooting. Ease of deployment and centralized management are additional advantages that add value for day-to-day operations.
It is observed that some part of the interface can feel a bit confusing or overwhelming for the new user who using this product first time. it takes some time for them to fully understand the product.
The UI is slow and clunky. You will spend most of your time waiting for Solarwinds to refresh, or trying to figure out why your graphs aren't working as expected. It can be difficult and frustrating to set up custom configurations. It feels like it is trying to do too many things, almost Jack of All Trades, instead of being a master of one.
While the overall experience is positive, initial alert configuration and fine tuning may require some effort in complex environments. Additionally, understanding licensing and feature scope at the beginning can take time for new customers.

A monitoring "Jack of all trades, master of none"
Solarwinds does the basics of monitoring well, but it can often be clunky, slow and unintuitive. It does the basics of what you'd expect a monitoring tool to do, well, in terms of polling, general ping and snmp feedback of devices, but you will spend most of your time waiting for it to load or refresh, or getting frustrated in trying to organise different graphs and views of the data you want. The tooling in theory is great, but it is hamstrung by it's GUI and slow nature. It also appears to be a product that requires a lot of attention in terms of patching/hotfixes. - IT Infrastructure Architect50M-1B USDServices (non-Government)Review Source
Solarwinds
We've used SolarWinds for a number of years, we use this alongside our network provider and has helped us to get deep insights into what's happening with our network equipment, both current and historical, with the ability to configure alerts for when devices go offline. Most of the options are very customizable.
