Our overall experience with ThoughtSpot has been exceptional over the past year and a half. It has fundamentally shifted how our organization consumes data, moving us away from static dashboards to true self-service analytics. The search interface is intuitive for our users, allowing non-technical folks to ask their own questions and get answers in seconds without relying on my data team for every request. The onboaring process was smooth, and the platform's ability to handle large datasets w/o compromising performance is impressive. It has empowered our teams to make faster, data-driven decisions and has freed up our analysts to focus on more strategic initiatives rather than backlog reporting. Truly a modern BI platform that delivers on its promises.

It's the best we've found in the industry to meet out needs even though it is still lacking exactly what we desire. The onboarding and setup process was not helpful but now that we have it up and running it is fairly smooth. We don't have enough dedicated resources on our end to keep up with their constant changes, so that is a struggle, since it's never just plug-and-play, we have to dedicate our own resources to making updates and make sense.

    Analytics that business users actually use

    We have been using Thoughtspot for over two years now, and overall it has been a very positive experience. I consider it a truly next generation analytics tool, particularly well suited to organisations that want to democratise access to data. From an implementation perspective, the technical onboarding was straightforward. Connecting Thoughtspot to our GCP environment was relatively easy, and the migration from our previous BI tool took just over three months. One important thing to highlight is that to fully unlock the value, data modelling needs to be done carefully and thoughtfully upfront. If the semantic layer is not designed well, it is easy to end up with messy and confusing models. This applies though to any modern BI tool. The main reason for the positive rating is the low adoption barrier for non-technical business users. Our biggest beneficiaries have been teams like Customer Success and Operations, where Analytics is now embedded directly into their day-to-day workflows. This level of adoption is a strong testament to the product's usability and overall design.

    Thoughtspot have been a great partner to work with, supporting us from the start in developing our new data platform and trying to help us improve engagement and use throughout the business. - Intuitive Search Interface: the natural language search bar is the standout feature. It allows non-technical users to type questions like revenue by region last quarter and instantly receive visualizations. This has drastically reduced the dependency on our data team for ad-hoc reporting. - LiveBoards and Pinning: the ability for users to create their own LiveBoards by pinning search results is fantastic. Unlike previous static dashboards, these are interactive and allows our users to drill down into the underlying data immediately, fostering a culture of curiosity and exploration. Ease of Adoption: the learning curve for us was incredibly shallow compared to previous, traditional BI tools. We were able to train our end users in under an hour, leading to high adoption rates across the company, including sales, marketing, and operations.

Like

1. Natural language querying. Thoughtspot allows users to ask questions using natural language on complex datasets, not just single flat tables. It does not hallucinate results and only returns answers based on the data available within the model. 2. Ease of adoption for non-technical users. The interface is intuitive, and the overall user experience makes it easy for business users to to start working with data with minimal training. 3. Embedding. Easy to embed into existing tools and workflows. 4. Strong customer support. The support team is extremely responsive and communicative, which has been very helpful both during the implementation and business as usual. 5. Feature releases. New features are released frequently and regularly, which keeps the product evolving and increasingly powerful over time.

Dislike

- Limited visualization customizations; plenty of options but smaller menu that typical BI platforms - Error messaging can be vague and/or limited - Mobile app limited mostly to viewing and not great for exploration and creation

Dislike

We had to build some things ourselves, such as a reasonable pdf/print version of reports. They require all these meetings that could be async emails and weren't valuable on our side. It is sadly still too complicated of a tool to open full access to our own customers. There's no sort of middle ground in permissions for allowing our users to build liveboards with preset answers, without giving them full edit access to the query builder, which isn't manageable for our general user.

Dislike

1. Usage stats are helpful at a high level, but not very intuitive when drilling into the detailed usage for GCP users. 2. New releases occasionally impact existing features, such as scheduled reporting or date formatting, but these issues are usually resolved quickly. 3. Very specific, but date handling defaults are rigid, defaults to a monthly aggregation and no option to set daily aggregation as a preferred option.
