- This is the truly 'ready for AI' platform - they are ahead and the proof is in the pudding - test it out and see for yourself! - Search base analytics - they were the first tool to bring it at this scale and efficiency. It truly is a differentiator. - Ease of drill downs and navigating hierarchies - typical BI tools require you to specify these paths and program them, but ThoughtSpot does it intuitively based on their modeling of the data. As long as your data structures and joins are well defined, you've got out of the box advanced capabilities - Ease of getting data out in excel - most BI tools define what you can download from a visual / table. ThoughtSpot is the only tool I know that allows you to customize the data fields before you download. No more offline data wrangling - you do it on the platform. - Ready support for tabular and pivot table reports - helps put the 'excel' wizards in the camp of adopters!
1. Limited visualization customizations. For example, not being able to change the font size or a card size in KPIs or graphs is really disappointing. 2. Formula limitations - we had some problems with advanced formulas, getting incorrect results or errors building formulas. Had to use SQL views to get around it - SQL is more flexible than formulas. 3. Not being able to use multiple connectors in the same model
It's difficult for users to discover the right dashboard they need; content management is difficult. There is no data catalog, so users cannot see definitions for things they're looking at. Natural language search is impossible without the data team doing a huge amount of up-front data modelling work and defining all the business logic and semantics.
- One major issue is understanding how ThoughtSpot works with data warehouses and supporting documentation on how data isn't stored on its servers. That could use a lot of simplification of terminology to help compliance and governance teams understand how to classify the risk from the tool - Sizing and font size adjustments on the dashboards. Resizing cuts off content and text which if only there was more control over the layout / text edits, that would make it perfect - Landing page experience with reports and dashboards. There isn't a good experience for enterprises / users to establish a custom landing experience OR have an easy way to browse the library of content that is available. It needs a simpler interface when teams who create tons of content are using it
