Stable enterprise storage platform with strong data protection.

We use TrueNAS Enterprise as our primary on‑prem storage platform for a mix of virtual machines, databases and file shares, and it has been solid once we got through the initial learning curve. ZFS snapshots and replication give us confidence on the data protection side, and we have already used snapshots a few times to recover from user mistakes without drama. The product feels more “admin‑focused” than glossy, but day‑to‑day it has been reliable, predictable and easy to live with as long as you respect the design guidelines around pools, vdevs and capacity planning.

TrueNAS Enterprise Likes & Dislikes

Like

What I like most is that the core storage features just work and are built on proven ZFS technology rather than something proprietary. Snapshots, replication and scrubs are straightforward to automate, and having those in one place has simplified our backup and recovery story compared to our previous mix of tools. I also appreciate the flexibility: the same system serves file shares, iSCSI for virtualization and some S3compatible object storage, so we dont need separate appliances for each use case. For our virtualization workloads, TrueNAS integrates cleanly as shared storage, and performance has been stable once we sized RAM and cache properly.
