While the initial setup required expertise, the platform has greatly improved scalability, consistency & cost efficiency. Overall, it's a reliable solution for modernising IT & delivering cloud-like agility on premises.

The biggest strength is the combination of speed, reliability & governance - it feels like having the agility of a public cloud, but the control & security of an enterprise-grade private cloud.

The best thing about this tool is that it allows unified and automated content, reducing manual work leading to efficiency and increasing agility and productivity.

The platform brings together infrastructure provisioning, policy enforcement and lifecycle management in one unified solution

While the platform delivers excellent automation & scalability once it's running, the entry barrier in terms of cost & expertise is what I dislike the most.

It is very hard to integrate and requires core knowledge of the system. It's not the best tool when it comes to upgrades.

some of the advanced automation policies requires a bit of fine tuning during setup

VMware Cloud Foundation gave us a consisten, enterprise-grade Private Cloud on vSphere/vSAN/NSX with predictable day-2 operations. The best parts were lifecycle automation with SDDC Manager, built-in resilience and strong security via NSX-microsegmentation. Downsides were overall TCO, some rigidity during upgrades and the learning curve for NSX and lifecycle tooling
