The support from the team is phenomenal. If we have any issues with the platform, we usually have a fix by EoD and if not, we have something scheduled to review with a tech.
It's user friendly, easy to use design, even for those not so deep into technical users. It's great for ETL automations and running any type of redundant and repetitive tasks that can be automated through OpCon. At the end of the day - it does the job.
- Their support department is very knowledgeable and helpful - They are unrivaled for integration into our particular ancillary software - Basically, if the system's you use leverage TCP/IP, it can probably have some automation via OpCon.
OpCon cannot log into purely web-based file interfaces without a direct connection with FTP/SFTP. If it doesn't have this, it can't just use a username/password to log into a website. Solution Manager exists and looks promising as a cloud replacement for the OpCon desktop environment but was launched without all the features of the desktop client and is only now catching up. Finally, errors are not always clear when a job fails; we had one job fail because a popup was occurring during file transfer and we needed to add a quiet flag; I would never have discovered this without help from support.
The very outdated user-interface, and the fact that the error messages can be quite vague and difficult to understand. This makes troubleshooting a philosophy class rather than a technical challenge.
- Some of the older versions do not have much in the way of self service, but the newer versions do have this feature. - Learning curve is a bit steep for administrators.

OpCon has been absolutely pivotal in automating almost any task we throw at it. It's ability create complex workflows and ability to reliably perform detailed tasks created a very large amount of time for our IT staff to perform other work. We have heavily leveraged it's ability to call batch scripts, access SFTP, monitor email accounts and perform specific actions based on a filtering of incoming emails to trigger events, fire SQL stored procedures, and automate the movement of files from one share to another. This is only a small list of the things that OpCon allows us to do, all unattended, on a reoccurring schedule of our choosing. As you can imagine, with a solution this capable, it can become quite confusing, and OpCon's support department is excellent in helping you implement your dream automation scenarios. If you can think it up, they will help try and find a way to make it happen. We have often requested additional functionality and, found it implemented only a few development cycles later. We also leverage their seamless ability to integrate into our core software platform, although due to the propriety of our vendor, they have few competitors in this area. OpCon is the enterprise scheduler you have been looking for.
Overall the product is fantastic. it does what it is designed to do. We would be lost without this software. The amount of manual steps that have been automated frees up our employees time to concentrate on more projects and core functions.
