VMware Cloud Foundation Likes & Dislikes
Comprehensive performance and capacity analytics, seamless integration with VMware ecosystem. It just makes managing our private and hybrid cloud environments much more efficient.
The product is great - it works as expected and allows us to utilize our hardware investments in the best possible way. The customer experience/service isn't. That being said having our own datacenters VMware is still the go-to-solution for optimal hardware usage as the ease of use within the product is better than the competitors.
A solid virtualization platform with enterprise grade support and excellent third party integrations. Software Defined Storage and Software Defined Networking permits to automate the entire lifecycle of all infrastructure and workloads deployed with integrated tools or third party tools. Security embedded with the solution, permits management of compliance and the different security requests about CVEs and other recommendations in a quick and simple way.
The licensing model and hardware compatibility requirements can be limiting. It demands certified hardware and the overall cost of implementation and support is relatively high compared to other solutions.
The TCO has increased way to much. The local representation from Broadcom is not present.
Learning curve is greater than other solutions to adopt all the included technologies. Adoption of all aspects of the solution requires some knowledge from different areas, like servers, storage, networking, security, automation, etc. Support for third party automation solutions is not allowed and the user is responsible for these common tools.
