What is Workday Student?

Workday Student elevates student experience and empowers staff with responsible, AI-powered agility and insights. The solution guides learners by helping them find and stay on their educational pathway, seamlessly surfacing real-time information about their courses, their finances, and their path to graduation. The cloud-based solution includes student recruitment and admissions, curriculum management, student record and enrollment management, and financial aid and tuition management. As part of the Workday platform, the solution provides an intuitive user experience for the campus community across all of their roles. For example, students register for classes in the same system they use to enter the hours worked for their campus job, and faculty enter grades in the same system they use to view financial information about their grants or select their employee benefits.

Workday Student Likes & Dislikes

The Student module is part of a larger, fully interconnected system. The same data field is presented in multiple locations, connecting Finance with Student Finance, HR with Academic Faculty, and HR with Student Worker. This allows for cross-institution reporting and business process setup. The UI is easy to navigate and often intuitive for student users. Security is flexible, allowing for tight restrictions as well as wide access. All aspects of a student's lifecycle, from matriculation to conferral, are straightforward to administer and easy to view on a student's record.

The system lets us make detailed changes to our academic programmes which matches our school's needs. The system generates useful details about student populations and results from course assessments.

Faculty, staff, and students know where they currently are with completed curriculum and have a way to plan for future terms.

Connecting activity pay to course instruction is possible but has challenges around automation. For complete student support and advising, a third party system is still needed for robust handling of flags and follow-up.

The current platform has serious problems transferring data correctly between Workday Student and older external systems. Different systems produce separate data stores that need to be manually checked and matched between them.

There are multiple steps to create academic requirements, but we understand this is a base line for so many functions.
