FAVORABLE

“Open platform benefits with powerful API and responsive support”

5.0
Jun 15, 2026
The vendor is extremely responsive to customer input and feedback. The system itself is robust and powerful out of the box, and it is open enough that we can build direct integrations to extend its functionality into workflow and other operational/business needs the core products don't cover.

CRITICAL

“Solid platform, could be friendlier”

3.0
Apr 14, 2026
The DAM has been an upgrade for our business and allows us to track and store our assets in a much more cohesive way. Some aspects of the usability are a little confusing, for example I find the different views for the same assets confusing. Having different options in different views has caused some confusion with colleagues.

Acquia has changed the way we work and allows us to continue to grow into the product!

I love all the opportunities provided with Acquia DAM. We are already migrated a few of our current processes and products over the DAM for a more streamlined process. I do wish there were stronger opportunities to add modifications and improvements as we build.

Well-Developed API and Dependable DAM Performance but Features May Lag Behind

    5.0
    Apr 13, 2026
I've worked with them for over 10 years and have never had a major outage. They are a solid and reliable option for a DAM. They can be slow to adopt some features and have half-baked others, but they do DAM better than anyone else.

Acquia DAM (Widen) Likes & Dislikes

Like

Integrations: the API is open and well documented, and API limits do not hamper our ability to utilize the API for business operations Administration: I as an administrator have direct control over features and functionalities in the product, allowing me to configure the system to best meet the needs of my users Support: the vendor's support site is expansive. When that's not enough, support is available via chat or a ticketing system. Many support team members have been with the company for a long time, and I consider them trusted partners when trying to diagnose and solve technical problems. Reporting: over the past year, the vendor replaced its existing reporting system with a new, much more robust system

Like

Being able to review version history, being able to add notes and details to assets, seeing the full asset history

Like

The flexibility to customize the environment to our needs.

Dislike

Creative teams and asset uploads: members of the creative team complain that the system is cumbersome when asked to upload and describe assets. They find options like those provided by CIHub to be similarly lacking. General versus industry specific models and configuration: the out of the box tools for functionality such as natural language search is tuned to general purpose DAM, and as a result its current utility is limited for companies such as mine with a science-heavy collection of assets. We would benefit from more ability to tune and control AI-powered tags and terminology. For-fee integrations: While I really appreciate the large ecosystem of available integrations, the one-time setup fee and ongoing costs to use those integrations dampens internal enthusiasm at my company to try out those integrations. Lack of internal consistency within the product: the vendor's DAM solution consists of a handful of related modules. The Assets application, which forms the core of the product, functions in a particular way (one example: very granular user roles and permissions) that isn't built out in the same way across other modules. This lack of consistency isn't problematic in and of itself, but when new features are being developed, we find it challenging to predict whether those features will work with our specific use cases, and once they are released we sometimes struggle with implementation, again because those features can work so differently relative to our active configuration and use. Reliability: the system is rock solid. When outages occur, and they are rare, we are confident no assets or metadata will be lost. In addition, the internal history of all changes made to assets over their lifecycle helps us understand the provenance of an assets long-term.

Dislike

Different views being confusing, now being able to easily find things via filters and tags, search being so dependant on filename

Dislike

We found the Workflow tool too restrictive for our needs. We also would love to be able purchase service hours for consultation as we grow in the DAM. The initial set up training was great, but we continue to grow with the product and would love a dedicated partner to work through things.
