We like the self-service MyHub portal for our end users and the insight into our environment that we were missing or was buried too deep in Microsoft's platform to find. Having control of who can create resources and what data we collect at the time of the request has been great!
The AvePoint Fly migration tool works great most of the time as long as you configure it correctly.
1. Automated Data Governance: The ability to seamlessly classify and manage data based on predefined rules has significantly reduced manual efforts and helped us improve our compliance standings. 2. Policy Enforcement and Monitoring: AvePoint allows us to ensure consistent enforcement of security and compliance policies across SharePoint Online and M365. These are spaces where a misconfiguration can be costly. 3. Data Unification: Being able to securely and reliably bring our data into a single location has been a game changer for our workflows and employee productivity.
We wish that certain parts of the product were more customizable to our needs. Support has been good, but our situation has lagged behind in updates due to how it's implemented. We wish there were better end-user documentation to share with our end users on how to use the various portals (MyHub, Recenter, etc). Lastly, the products all seem very disconnected, and it's hard to know what to use when.
We had some issues with the AvePoint user licensing model which was not similar to other companies' user licenses assignment and so we had to change over to their object model licensing. Also, getting an engineer to assist us as part of our Essential package took 2 weeks which is too long considering our tight project timeline. The AvePoint Fly tool works great once you configure all the policies and settings correctly, but there are so many settings that it can get complicated. AvePoint Support can lack knowledge and hands on help from their call support will just provide you with the same User Guide information which doesn't help you resolve your migration errors and problems. The Fly tool is also slow at certain times opening the GUI screen interface and can get frustrating.
1. The platform is excellent, however the reporting capabilities, while solid, lack some of the customization options required for more advanced analytics. 2. Your data governance policies might not be a 1:1 with the options offered by AvePoint, some additional customization here would be nice. 3. The initial onboarding period can be tedious.
