Like

Easy integration where the dev's can add voice, video calling, chat and SMS capabilities to their applications with less code using API and SDK's. All communications are encrypted to meet privacy and compliance requirements such as HIPPA and GDPR. The service automatically scales based on usage volumes with a pay as you go model (OpEx), eliminating (CapEx) that needs for dedicated infrastructure, that needs its additional maintenance.

Dislike

Things that could use a bit of improvement are: 1. Initial setup can be a bit complex, with configuring identity, permissions, and authentication. 2. Some features require multiple different services or additional configurations to work seamlessly. 3. Pricing can get tricky and can hike exponentially if you scale usage quickly, particularly for SMS or voice minutes.

ACS has been really surprising to us. We've found that as time went on and we continued to move our workloads into Azure, it made sense to look into our communications as well. It has the ability to deliver voice, SMS, email, and teams-integrated experiences, while somewhat reducing the complexity with telecom providers.

Our overall experience with Azure Communication services is quite positive. The platform offers a solid way to integrate different communication channels into applications, especially existing Microsoft applications. The implementation however requires specialized technical employees as the set up and configuration can be quite difficult.
