Overview

Product Information on Microsoft Azure

Updated 13th October 2025

What is Microsoft Azure?

Microsoft Azure is a cloud computing software that offers a range of services including virtual machines, databases, networking, storage, artificial intelligence, and analytics. The software enables organizations to build, deploy, and manage applications across a global network of data centers. It allows users to scale resources as required and supports multiple operating systems and development frameworks. Azure provides tools for security, compliance, and disaster recovery to help address business continuity challenges. It is designed to support workloads from simple web hosting to complex data analysis, allowing businesses to optimize infrastructure management and operational efficiency.

Microsoft Azure Pricing

Microsoft Azure software uses a pay-as-you-go pricing model, where charges are based on usage of resources such as computing, storage, networking, and other services. The software also offers reserved instance pricing options for certain resources, enabling cost predictability over a fixed term. There are free tier options for eligible usage, and additional enterprise agreements for organizations seeking customized pricing and billing structures.

FAVORABLE

“A strong enterprise-ready platform for generative AI adoption, especially for existing Azure customers”

5.0
Mar 2, 2026
We started using Microsoft Azure several years ago for general cloud workloads and more recently began using it to support generative AI use cases. Our main focus has been experimenting with Azure OpenAI services and running AI-related workloads alongside existing applications. One advantage for us was that we didn't need to introduce a completely new platform; we could build on infrastructure and identity management we already had in Azure.

CRITICAL

“Integration With Microsoft Products Praised, Complexity and Expense Raise Concerns”

3.0
Mar 5, 2026
Microsoft Azure is a very powerful system that we use. It integrates nicely with the Microsoft family of products that my clients use. The system is very scalable. It has great security levels for our companies. However, it has been a bit complex to install and configure. Alot of times the settings are hard to find, and Microsoft keeps changing stuff all the time.

Performance of Microsoft Azure Across Market Features

Microsoft Azure Likes & Dislikes

Like

What I like most is how well generative AI services integrate with existing Azure components such as storage, networking, and security controls. We were able to connect AI services to existing applications without redesigning our architecture completely. Azure also provides enterprise-level controls around access management and compliance, which is important when working with AI models and sensitive data. The availability of managed services reduces the operational overhead compared to running AI infrastructure completely on your own.

Like

It is very scalable, has enterprise level security, and has a multitude of features. It also intergrade very well with the Microsoft Office products and family!

Like

What I like most about Microsoft Azure is its ability to combine strong performance with a comprehensive set of AI and cloud services in a single platform. This enables fast deployment of scalable workloads, including generative AI use cases.

Dislike

One challenge we experienced is cost transparency. AI workloads can scale quickly, and it's sometimes difficult to predict expenses during experimentation phases. Monitoring and optimization require active attention. Documentation and service options can also feel overwhelming, especially since Azure's AI offerings are evolving rapidly. It's not always obvious which service or architecture pattern is the right choice. In addition, regional availability and quota limitations occasionally slowed down our testing efforts.

Dislike

It can get very expensive quick. It is also a bit over complex, and features can be hard to find and adjust.

Dislike

One of the main drawbacks of Microsoft Azure is the complexity of its pricing model, which can create cost estimation and optimisation challenges as usage scales.

Scalable and Powerful AI-ready cloud platform with strong performance but requires careful cost management

I was directly involved in the full lifecycle of adopting Microsoft Azure, from evaluation to implementation as part of transitioning to cloud based AI infrastructure. The platform enables rapid deployment and strong performance across Azure Gen AI services - like Azure OpenAI service, GPU-based VMs, AKS, and Azure AI Search service. This helps us to achieve a lot of automation within the organization to eliminate manual efforts put for analysis and business process mapping.

My overall experience with Microsoft Azure Generative AI infrastructure has been positive. The plaftorm has provided a strong foundation to deploy and scale generative AI solutions within our organization. While the setup required careful planning, the end result was a reliable and secure environment that met most of our expectations.
