Based on standard metamodels. Multiple frameworks supported which allows efficient integration of different modelling practices such as portfolio management, business process management, decision model and notation, unified modeling language and others. Availability of a set of predefined techniques such as Business Model Canvas, Balanced Score Card, PESTEL, SWOT, etc. The intuitive and easy to adopt environment (HoriZZon and Enterprise Studio) for delivering the best value of the practice with agility and velocity. Rich capabilities to create engaging and customized dashboards. The integration of different sets technical capabilities are several layers that allow for different roles (enterprise architect, solution architect, portfolio manager, etc.) to come together inside the same platform.
The customizability and power of the Enterprise Studio/Horizzon solution
The BizzDesign Horizon platform is fully accessible via a simple browser. For 99% of the use cases, there is no need for software installations. The platform can speak multiple languages for modeling: ArchiMate, BPMN, UML all coexisting within the same repository. The platform allows for sharing of content with a couple of clicks. There is no need to deploy the models, so they are available via a web browser. Once the models have been committed, they are readily available via a simple browser for different stakeholders.
The lack of flexibility in customizing the welcome screen of the SaaS product (would appreciate to be able to accept the customer's enterprise branding rules).
The user experience from both a business consumer and a technical architect is over complex and not very intuitive resulting in low adoption
The license cost for designer seats. AI should already be embedded within all offerings, especially to assist with cleaning up entire repositories from the inevitable duplicate objects problem. The client installation for the Enterprise Design Studio is rather buggy. The online version of the Enterprise Design Studio could be quicker and more responsive. Very Powerful Architecture Tool With User Experience Challenges And A Steep Learning Curve
Pros: Bizzdesign Horizzon/Enterprise Studio has a lot of powerful tools and is very flexible for architects to tell the architecture and portfolio management story of any technology solution or business process. With the custom query code ability, integration to OpenSearch dashboards/visualization and flexible modeling language options you can model any type of system or dataflow. With enough time to learn and build, an enterprise architect would have a very powerful tool to do their work. The team at Bizzdesign also still manage to keep the pricing affordable and accessible as compared to other similar EA tools. Cons: With so much capability, there is an impact to usability. Much of the Enterprise Studio functionality is not intuitive and there is a steep learning curve to getting proficient with all the functionality. The impact of this is very low user adoption as solution architects get frustrated and have difficulty picking up the skills to diagram in the tool. User experience from a Horizzon consumer perspective is also not very polished. The tool is meant to document technical aspects of architecture, but also to create documentation for business leaders and end users. It would be helpful if there was a cleaner "web site" like experience presented in the front end to non-technical consumers. The interface is still a little on the counterintuitive side for users without familiarity to the tool. Once again, that leads to low adoption and EAs end up having to hand-hold users through the tool. To be evaluated: There has been strong evolution at Bizzdesign with acquisitions of other technology and AI capability advancements that will seems to bring alot of value. We're waiting to see how many of the new features and advances will be added to Horizzon and Enterprise Studio. Highly powerful EA platform for deep modeling and customization
We recently re-evaluated our EA tool landscape since we stood up Bizzdesign in 2017 - we ultimately chose to stay with Bizzdesign. While several competing tools offered a more modern user experience, they lacked the depth and power we require for detailed architecture modeling, which remains a key differentiator for Bizzdesign and a primary reason we retained it. Within its class, the platform is very powerful, however, realizing that power requires deliberate effort, configuration, and ongoing administration rather than being immediately accessible out of the box. Following the merger, Bizzdesign is launching Unify and we are hopeful this will address some of our pain points.
