Rich Logistics Features May Complicate Simple Tracking Needs For Deployment Teams
Our team has mostly used Blue Yonder to track the logistics side of hardware deliveries for some of our data center deployments. None of us are in supply chain management directly, but we still need visibility into when equipment is clearing the warehouse or port so we can plan our site activity and crew schedules properly. You can tell the platform is built for handling a massive amount of logistics info, and it has been useful for us to see where the shipments are getting delayed or stuck in the process. At the same time, as a team coming from operations and deployment, the interface feels a bit overwhelming at times and seems more geared toward dedicated logistics experts. It definitely helped improve visibility compared to us having to do manual follow-ups, but we still found ourselves maintaining separate tracking notes on the side. To be honest, we didn’t always trust ourselves to navigate every single dashboard correctly because the system is so dense. It's a powerful tool, no doubt, but since we are not purely in supply chain but end up having to interact with the tool anyway due to dependencies and only need quick status updates to keep a project moving, it feels a bit overkill (which can be a really good thing in my POV if you're from a pure supply chain background).
