Rich Logistics Features May Complicate Simple Tracking Needs For Deployment Teams

    3.0
    May 12, 2026
Our team has mostly used Blue Yonder to track the logistics side of hardware deliveries for some of our data center deployments. None of us are in supply chain management directly, but we still need visibility into when equipment is clearing the warehouse or port so we can plan our site activity and crew schedules properly. You can tell the platform is built for handling a massive amount of logistics info, and it has been useful for us to see where the shipments are getting delayed or stuck in the process. At the same time, as a team coming from operations and deployment, the interface feels a bit overwhelming at times and seems more geared toward dedicated logistics experts. It definitely helped improve visibility compared to us having to do manual follow-ups, but we still found ourselves maintaining separate tracking notes on the side. To be honest, we didn’t always trust ourselves to navigate every single dashboard correctly because the system is so dense. It's a powerful tool, no doubt, but since we are not purely in supply chain but end up having to interact with the tool anyway due to dependencies and only need quick status updates to keep a project moving, it feels a bit overkill (which can be a really good thing in my POV if you're from a pure supply chain background).

Blue Yonder Platform Likes & Dislikes

Like

1. The demand planning and forecasting engine is sophisticated - it handles complex scenarios and large data volumes without losing accuracy, which makes a real difference in inventory decisions. 2. End-to-end visibility across the supply chain is well-executed, giving teams a clearer picture of where bottlenecks are before they become serious problems. 3. The platform scales well as operations grow - adding new facilities, suppliers, or product lines doesn't require rebuilding existing workflows from scratch.

Dislike

The interface just feels way too heavy for a team like ours that's only using it for tracking and basic coordination. We are usually just trying to see where a specific batch of hardware is, but we still have to fight through several menus and filters just to get a simple, straightforward update. It really feels like it was built for someone who does logistics all day, not for a team who uses the tool tangentially to get updates and quick status checks. But again, it being catered towards supply chain only folks, from one perspective, it can be considered a good thing since the platform has enough depth that other teams find it difficult to navigate and from a different perspective, the tool could've been designed for not only pure supply chain teams can interact with it, but also for other teams who mainly work in operations and deployments like ours and need to mildly interact with the tool. Another thing is that the updates don't always seem to stay in sync with what's actually happening on the ground. In our deployment work, even a small mismatch in tracking causes a lot of headaches because our crews are scheduled around very specific windows. There were plenty of times where we couldn't trust the dashboard and had to go back to manual follow-ups before we could actually commit to a site schedule It's also mildly frustrating how hard it is to move our tracking data into the other internal tools we use. Since it doesn't easily export or link out, our team still spends a lot of time manually copying and pasting info into our spreadsheets or deployment trackers. It's just repetitive work that feels like it should be more automated by now.
