Cisco Duo provides security-first Identity and Access Management (IAM) that protects organizations from identity-based threats. Duo includes all the necessary components to serve as your sole IAM platform or seamlessly integrate with and fortify your existing identity providers, operating as a unified defense layer across your identity infrastructure. By embedding critical protections like broad-based MFA and device trust into the company’s base offering, Duo eliminates the "security tax" often imposed by traditional IAM vendors. Essential security is on by default—not a costly, complex upgrade. As a result, Duo addresses advanced threats while delivering a seamless experience that users and admins embrace.
Duo Pricing
Duo offers three pricing tiers: Essentials ($3/user/mo) includes security-first IAM, phishing-resistant MFA, passwordless, SSO, AI Assistant, and Trusted Endpoints. Advantage ($6/user/mo) adds continuous identity security, cross-platform visibility, posture management (ISPM), and threat detection and response (ITDR). Premier ($9/user/mo) adds VPN-less remote access via Duo Network Gateway.

Easy to get started and set up, we installed the duo authentication proxy and it took no longer than a day to get it up and into the testing phase.
The management dashboard is really simple and great to work with, user management is made simple with AD connection, so all users added to ad can be replicated over to the dashboard.

Performance of Duo Across Market Features
Duo Likes & Dislikes
The dashboard is excellent and simple. The app is great and migrating your MFA setup to a new device is made really simple. We were able to transition to passwordless authentication for our remote access with Cisco Duo and Anyconnect, for increased security and simplicity. Active Directory Integration was seamless and allows us to manage users and groups from a single place and the changes are reflected in the Duo dashboard. So the product has been an all around great experience to set up and manage.
Provides multiple MFA methods.
The most standout feature of Duo is its seamless push authentication via the mobile app, which delivers near-instant approvals without SMS fallbacks, boosting security and user convenience in our high-volume IT environments.
The documentation on the installation of the authentication proxy was outdated, and I encountered some errors, because the file structure was different, but nothing that we didn't figure out quickly, and made it work. The extra features, such as the Duo Passwords and SSO capabilities, could be better explained.
Does not provide OTP / SMS MFA capabilities.
i mainly dislike tht Duo's policy and configuration interface can feel a bit unituitive and fragmented, especially when managing many groups and applications. This sometimes makes it slower then it should be track down where a particular setting or restriction is coming from and to apply consistent across the enviroment. Another drawback is that some user find the number of authentication prompts intrusive if policies are not tuned carefully, which can generate minor push fatigue and extra help desk.

Duo MFA Enables Secure Access but Faces Challenges With Console Navigation
5.0Feb 26, 2026
Duo has been a reliable MFA solution in our enterpirse providing seamless push notifications and device trust secure access to servers and apps. setup was easy via the admin consolem integrating well with RADIUS and SAML. Minor drawbacks include occasional offline limitations and console navigation for complex polices, but support responsiveness and phishing-resistant features make it a top choice for baking-grade security

Consistent Support and Product Adaptability Noted Despite Minor Mobile App Frustration
5.0Feb 25, 2026
The original implementation was very smooth. They made sure I understood why things were being setup the way they were and provided the training to continue adding integrations myself. We have the Duo Care support package and in the past 3-and-a-half years have had our primary technical support rep change a couple of times, but each technician has been extremely knowledgeable and a couple of them have even helped with some issues we were having on the OS side. We have maintained the same Customer Success Specialist throughout and she is amazing. Overall, the product and support have been outstanding.
