What I appreciate most is the depth of visibility it provides into software usage and licensing, <it helps identify unused installations, track license consumption, and understand where optimizations can be made. The reporting capabilities are also very useful, especially when preparing for vendor audits or internal reviews. Having everything centralized makes it much easier to make informed decisions about renewals and license purchases.
The user Dashboard is user friendly. The application recognition library is generally accurate and is up to date. Data can be collected from all servers, endpoints, and cloud.
Tracking software licenses is a huge perk. Sometimes, one employee may have 3-4 licenses for a software and hte company isn't aware of it unless a manual dive is conducted. With FlexNet Manager it prevents all that manual labor, which I am a huge fan of.
The main downside is that the platform can feel quite complex, especially for new users. The initial setup and configuration required a good understanding of both the tools and the organization's software environment. Some of the interfaces and workflows could be more intuitive, and troubleshooting certain issues sometimes takes longer than expected.
The product has trouble distributing Microsoft datacenter product licenses appropriately (e.g. datacenter vs. standard). Calculations are not always correct for virtualized environments (e.g. Redhat requires hot standby to be licensed). Reporting is not granular and it is not intuitive (e.g. can't segment so a given audience can only see certain products).
Sometimes, there might be a licensing error or corrupted files which isn't the software's fault. It's important to keep an open mind and always conduct audits for fact checks.
