HCL has delivered many improvements to the "old" IBM Websphere system. They are releasing new updates frequently and making those updates easier/faster/cheaper to apply. The only lacking things are the areas they have not tackled yet, but I'm seeing steady progress.

Key Strengths of HCL Commerce 1) Modern cloud-native architecture : The core of Commerce is its shift to a microservices and container-based approach, which provides several benefits. Faster Innovation Lower TCO Higher agility 2) Embedded AI capabilities 3) Integrated composable platform 4) Dedicated cloud support 5) Strong legacy foundation

It's becoming truly cloud native and more agnostic about the environment in which it can run.

The system has great capabilities, very rounded up, if you deep dive, you could really do a lot of the necessities of the e-commerce through on this single tool. My favorite tool is the Content Programation (Web activities) and all the segmentation you could do with the preinstalled targets

1) Ongoing complexity for non-standard integration 2) Initial Learning curve 3) Lack of out of the box extensions 4) suitability for small businesses

1. Cost. This is a very expensive system. 2. Some of the product demos are ahead of what can actually be delivered (vaporware). 3. Some areas still need modernization. These are on the roadmap, but there's work to be done.

The user experience of the system is not very intuitive, the system colors are too bright for everyday use, options are not easy to find in some cases, personal workspace is not customizable by the user and new users have a huge learning curve

It is a powerful and customizable product. It is really good that HCL has brought a breath of fresh air since taking over from IBM. There are, of course, still some unavoidable legacy issues, but things are clearly moving in the right direction.
