The Verified ID service offers a robust foundation for decentralised identity, and for our current need to allow control over ones personal data, is a natural way forward. The integration with Microsoft 365 suite is by far the most significant integration we need and we are still exploring additional aspects to where the Verified ID can benefit the company.
first it gives reliable way to verify credentials, second easy to integrate several systems and thirdly it gives details in human readable.
Effortless streamlining of identity verification reduces repetitive checks and makes the process feel both more secure and efficient. Improves the experience for users and the organisation by using a more privacy-respecting process than other solutions. Its integration with the Microsoft ecosystem means it fits naturally into tools we already use, such as Microsoft Azure and M365 - avoiding the friction that using a 3rd party solution would bring.
Verified ID is not encouraged by Microsoft and often seems like a neglected feature. - Lack of Administration capabilities - obviously for the nature and purpose of Verified ID, we want to keep the user data as safe as possible, but we have quite limited control/configuration capabilities from Microsoft. - Lack of case studies - we know this is something we need to move forward with, but struggling to get users onboard with this. Microsoft does not offer a clear path with benefits to achieve this. - Microsoft Locked-in integration - We struggle to get this anywhere else apart from Microsoft products. We have a wide range of applications and services, and Verified ID does not seem to be able to work on a wider app spectrum.
first configurations are complex, second if you integrate a product out of ms, it has limited customization and lastly it requires strong technical information to deploy.
Initial setup can feel rather complex - it requires a deep understanding of Azure and identity-management experience. Requires partner ecosystems to allow the adoption of Entra Verified ID - Not all platforms support decentralised identity standards. The concept of decentralised identity is new to a lot of companies and end users - this requires training and guidance to ensure a smooth uptake of the product.

My overall experience with Microsoft is positive. We have a significant investment within the Microsoft eco-system and it is serving us well so far. We are really leveraging our Entra ID admin portal and M365 admin portal to support our ongoing focus on improving our security & compliance posture.
