Product Information on Moodle

Updated 13th October 2025

What is Moodle?

Moodle is a software designed for creating and managing online learning environments, supporting course development, content management, assessments, and collaboration between educators and learners. The software offers customizable tools for organizing lessons, quizzes, assignments, and forums, enabling institutions to deliver educational resources remotely. Moodle facilitates tracking of learner progress, communication between participants, and integration with a variety of third-party applications. It addresses the business problem of delivering scalable and flexible learning management systems for schools, universities, and organizations seeking to provide structured digital education experiences.

Moodle Pricing

Moodle software operates on an open-source pricing model, allowing users to download and use the core software without a licensing fee. Optional services such as cloud hosting, support, and customized solutions are available through a subscription-based or pay-as-you-go structure, depending on the selected service features and user requirements.

It works under Mysql and postgresql database systems and in any environment that supports php language. A course management system widely used in the world. In some schools, lecture notes are published here, projects are loaded here, examples are explained here.

Good platform, needs work on overall design. Not as easy to integrate API tools as I thought for a non-technical founder.

Moodle Likes & Dislikes

Like

Support and community forums are quite extensive. A large number of new features modules are constantly being developed and distributed free of charge. We find it useful for distance education.

Like

Ease of download. Simple integration with existing domain. Breadth of learning tools.

Like

Its ease of customization, flexibility and support groups. One will get everything regarding it online, that too free. Massive amount of people are working on it right now.

Dislike

Quite successful. there is no failure...

Dislike

It was hard to deploy without technical or coding skills. It did not integrate with modern teaching tools like I thought. It overall was very out-dated looking and needs a complete remake. No mastery paths or engaging design/dashboard to encourage social learning or student engagement. More for higher ed than K-12

Dislike

Graphical user interface is not that attractive.
