NetApp FAS Likes & Dislikes
NetApp FAS has very reliable and efficient storage performance as it handles the workloads without any hassle. It has built-in features like deduplication and compression, so you can automatically save space without putting in any extra effort. NetApp FAS setup process is straight forward, you don't need to spend a lot of time getting started. Day-to-day management is also very smooth, and if you ever need any support, the support team is quick to respond. NetApp continues to improve its platform when it comes to security.
It's reliability. It just chugs along without needing constant oversight and maintenance.
You can manage multiple SAN protocols like FC and iSCSI and SAN protocols like NFS and SMB CIFS. Great integration with the principal cloud provider. The hardware is very strong and really powerful, it offers the possibility of redundant components and guarantees real reliability. The support is perfect. They are precise and on time, and if authorized, they can even move around independently.
While NetApp support is helpful, sometimes the support team can take longer to resolve complex issues. It asks for the additional cost foe certain features.
Customer support is not really great.
The product is a bit dated, but NetApp now offers better performing products. It is quite expensive. You need to have the necessary skills or proper training.

Data Center Archiving and Replication in ONTAP Deployment
5.0Mar 25, 2026
Greater experience, I installed and configured it in 4 different data centers to archive data and replicate it for backup and disaster recovery. With ONTAP, you can manage multiple FAS so you can replicate or move your data and volumes, and configure and scale your environment. If you configure it well you have some strong features like live migration and hot maintenance.
