The fit to standard approach for the Public Cloud worked well for us. The onboarding with SAP was painless as our 3-tier environment landscape was set up quickly without any issues. While the bi-annual system updates can be challenging, we do get new AI and automation tools on a regular basis, keeping us updated with the most up to date software.

User Experience: The Fiori interface is clean, modern, and role-basedmaking navigation easy for business users and improving overall productivity.
Read Full ReviewThe system itself does not have customization options; any customization must be done outside of the core via BTP. This could be considered a negative or positive depending on your view. This is still a growing area and skilled resource availability can be challenging. Planning must be done for the bi-annual upgrade. This will require your teams to be proficient in CALM. Support issues are handled predominately through tickets, and it can be a challenge to get someone on the phone.
Read Full Review- Cloud ERP is new in the region and not pervasive yet and therefore our level of understanding of it together with SAP partners is currently limited. We're still in our exploratory phase to understand what is and is not possible as well as limitations. The one area SAP needs to address asap, especially for the Cloud ERP is ensuring their Partners or SIs are upskilling themselves and up to speed on the Cloud ERP. Most of them still depend on ECC skills and yet there has to be a mindshift when dealing with Cloud issues.
Read Full ReviewLimited Customization Since it's a standardized cloud solution, theres restricted flexibility for custom developments or highly specific business processes compared to on-premise or private cloud versions. Dependency on SAP Roadmap New features or enhancements depend on SAP's release cycle, which can slow down adaptation to unique business needs. Integration Challenges While integration is possible, connecting with certain third-party systems or legacy applications may require additional effort or middleware (e.g., SAP BTP or CPI).

SAP S/4 HANA Public Cloud Implementation Eases Onboarding but Limits Customization
We have been happy with the SAP S/4 HANA Public Cloud solution we implemented from SAP. We had a 7 month project that started in August of 2024 and we went live with Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, Record to Report modules for our UK distribution company. We implemented with an SI (Reply) and while we had some bumps with items such as integration of a sales portal into Public Cloud, MDG S/4 Hub integrated from our corporate ECC environment to the BM UK S/4 Public version. We also took advantage of CALM for turning on scope items, downloading test scripts, etc. Overall it's been a very successful project. - IT Manager50M-1B USDManufacturingReview Source
Dependence on ECC Skills Highlights Need for Cloud ERP Partner Upskilling
What has worked well - The availability of accelerators to quicken the implementation and release management process - Roadmap viewer where one is able to understand what's coming in order to prepare and identify new features and functionalities that will resolve current problems. - Community of users that share insights and resolutions to problems - Accessibility of expertise across the globe - one is not limited to their own region What hasn't worked well - Public cloud still has some fundamental functionalities/features that should be standard and which were standard in the on-prem version and the process from raising and implementation of these additional features is slow. - MANAGER, SUPPLY CHAIN50M-1B USDConsumer GoodsReview Source

Public Cloud SAP S4HANA Offers Broad ERP Coverage With Some Limitations
We have the Public Cloud version of SAP S4HANA and have had an overall favorable experience with the software and supplier. Our primary contact through SAP RISE has been great to work with and constantly stays involved with our team and helps coordinate discussions. The software itself is typical of large ERP systems. It does some things really well, others it differs from how we'd like to perform the action. We knew this when selecting the Public Cloud program and the "clean core" expectation. We specifically wanted a solution that wasn't customizable and worked out of the box.
