FAVORABLE

“Solid Enterprise Search with Strong M365 Integration, Room for AI Improvement”

4.0
Jun 16, 2026
SharePoint has been a solid enterprise content management and search platform for our organization. The deep integration with Microsoft 365 ecosystem works very well, and the search indexing across SharePoint libraries and Teams content is reliable. Document management workflows have helped our teams collaborate more effectively. However, search relevance tuning and AI-powered features could use improvement compared to dedicated enterprise search solutions.

Great capabilities for infrastructure deployment when creating new sites and cloud servers, but has had issues with indexing and with file transfers/migrations from existing infrastructure.

SharePoint Offers Strong Collaboration But Can Improve With Speed at times & Access Management

    4.0
    May 11, 2026
I manage a newly created sharepoint drive for my team, which is shared with the wider team. It is one of the go to tools we use here in our organisation for daily collaboration. It has really good and seamless integration with other office apps, like powerpoint, word and excel. It can though feel heavy and slow at times, and mentions and giving access take some tuning to manage. Once set up properly though, it is a reliable workhorse.

Centralized collaboration boosts productivity but adoption hampers team efficiency

    5.0

From a corporate standpoint, my experience with SharePoint has been centered around enterprise document management and collaboration at a high level. The platform provides us a centralized application where our teams can store, organize, and collaborate on content between departments which is very critical for an organization of our size. The application integration with Microsoft 365 allows us to enable workflows, communication, and file sharing to happen across tools. Overall, SharePoint operates as a foundational piece that supports our operational workflows and efficiencies.

Efficient document collaboration balanced by a complex, cluttered interface

    4.0
    May 19, 2026
My overall experience has been positive. It’s a strong platform for document storage, sharing and team collaboration, especially when used along side of Microsoft tools. It helps helps keep information organised and accessible across Teams while it can take a bit of time to get used to and isn’t always the most intuitive. It’s generally reliable and effective for everyday use.

Performance of SharePoint Across Market Features

SharePoint Likes & Dislikes

Like

1. Deep integration with Microsoft 365 ecosystem (Teams, OneDrive, Outlook, CoPilot) makes content discovery seamless across platforms. 2. Robust permissions and security model allows granular control over who can access what content. 3. Out-of-the-box connectors for indexing content from multiple data sources including SharePoint libraries, Teams channels, and external repositories. 4. Modern search experience with people search, expertise finding, and verticals customization. 5. Copilot integration for AI-assisted search and content summarization.

Like

The new development features are very appealing, ranging from permissions capabilities to folder structure layouts. We've also had several application integrations including fleet management, inventory, and a few others that have integrated very easily and well with each respective location's SharePoint.

Like

Key features that I like the most include: deep integration with microsoft 365 platform, like you can co-author with word, excel and powerpoint. document management henceforth with the automated version history (which is a life saver really particularly when you are working with sales teams), co authoring make it far beyond any typical drive for collaborating on files. Another feature I really like is I can run forms and record responses within sharepoint, which at times has been really handy: running surveys and what not: the integrated dashboards/newsfeeds are amazing as well: no coding required.

Dislike

1. Search relevance tuning requires significant expertise and the out-of-the-box ranking algorithms often surface stale or irrelevant content without heavy customization. 2. Limited support for non-Microsoft data connectors compared to dedicated enterprise search platforms; third-party connectors often require custom development. 3. Slow indexing latency for newly created content, sometimes taking hours before it appears in search results. 4. Analytics and reporting on search behavior are basic and lack the depth needed for ongoing relevance optimization. 5. Performance can degrade in large tenants with millions of documents without careful architecture planning.

Dislike

Migrating to SharePoint was difficult. Partially due to the old infrastructure we were moving from, but we've seen SharePoint itself struggling during File Transfers, even when transfer sizes are not very large. Additionally, indexing has at times proven difficult on a wide scale. We have noticed that there are often Service Outages reported by Microsoft where SharePoint outages almost always affect indexing. This causes us at times to , unfortunately, have nothing to do but wait for their resolution.

Dislike

In my personal experience, I think at times it is really hard to grant access to someone external to the organisation. And I am saying in miniscule of the cases (like 1 out of a 100), there is no troubleshooting option for this. My manager at times complaints that finding files which I have stored in some nested folders is really troublesome. Search at times can be a miss or hit, at times search results really irrelevant results and at times no results at all. Heavy files lag a lot at times, like firsly syncing through onedrive at times is really slow. Who can see feature can also see some improvements.
