It certainly makes a sales intelligence tool feel more complete as a product. It compliments the whole prospecting user experience by gathering useful information within a sales rep's screen and it even offers guidance to help them prioritize their work more efficiently. For instance, it provides you with accounts that have shown buying intent signals, which helps you steer your work in a direction that is most likely to produce a positive outcome. It also produces top-level account summaries and it can also give you suggestions on which contacts within an organization are most likely to engage with you based on your ICP. Similarly, its conversation intelligence can help reps create curated email outreach within seconds, which can save valuable time in the long run, especially for teams that prioritize quantity over quality.

ZoomInfo Copilots customization and implementation often takes significant setup time before we start to see real value. The buying intent signals occasionally produce noise rather than clear guidance. The cost is also relatively high compared to other AI sales tools, especially when similar AI features are increasingly available in other platforms.
The conversation intelligence feature often felt a bit bland and ineffective, to the point that many reps simply stopped using it. I don't think it's suitable for a highly personalized approach of selling. Similarly, the buying intent signals sometimes produced some false positives and this affected the confidence of some of the users in this feature. In summary, although there is value in most of the AI features, Copilot does not make the cut for me mostly because there are plenty of fish in the sea these days, which certainly does not justify the excessive cost of the platform. It is relatively simple to replicate similar AI functions through a very popular workflow automation platform these days at a fraction of the cost. Additionally, even our CRM provider has recently started offering a bunch of AI capabilities for free that look as good if not even better in comparison.

I had the chance to experience Zoominfo Copilot from an admin's perspective for several months after its release in 2024. My employer at the time had purchased the Advanced plan for Zoominfo Sales, and Copilot was automatically added as part of our subscription once released. While it offers a pretty handy set of capabilities that can enhance prospecting and sales outreach to a certain extent, I do not consider it much of a "breakthrough" or a must-have. Instead it feels more like Zoominfo's effort to keep up with the huge demand for all kinds of AI features and to maybe justify the sky-high pricing that they charge.
