Features served in the solution are more than sufficient. The main reason why we've selected this solution instead of others is the enriched connectivity options. Service connection and remote connection is the go to option for our data center, cloud and 3rd party connectivity. Rule management is nearly identical to current on-premise Palo Alto/PAN Next Gen Firewalls. Global Protect Agent coexists with existing PAN VPN Gateways. Therefore, we don't need to maintain additional agent software on the clients. It also provides us with redundancy in case there's a switch over to other VPN GWs. AI Security, CASB and Data Security are also covered. ESA and Focused Services also cover Prisma Access. Global and Local is great with these services.
Prisma Access has many modules and capabilities, including ZTNA, SASE, NGFW, CASB and DLP. The ability to have all of this in a single solution is perhaps its greatest advantage. The second very positive aspect is its geographic reach, with. its own points of presence (POP) in virtually every part of the world.
It's ability to provide a complete cloud-delivered security solution with centralized management and consistent policy enforcement across remote users, branch user and cloud applications. The platform offers strong visibility, reliable performance, and seamless integration with other Palo Alto Networks products, which simplifies security operations. Features like Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), secure web gateway, and recently launched Prisma Access Secure Enterprise Browser further strengthen security while maintaining a smooth user experience.
Management is a bit bulky. It's not very smooth compared to other vendors. Copilot in the portal is not action oriented. Prisma Access recommended infra version is still 10.2. I feel a bit outdated in comparison to our existing Palo Alto Firewalls. There's no small agent for the connectivity option as we're using the same Global Protect agent. Data security is not covered in the agent, therefore there is a gap for data security where we need to maintain additional agents on the client. Accessing the product team is very hard. We have not had a single customer meeting for at least a year. There is no customer board community. By the way, Palo Alto stopped conducting Global Ignites since 2020, I have no option to see what's going on with the Prisma Access Solution.
The operational cost and complexity of operation are a penalty, as is the difficulty of customization for more specific use case and last but not least, the high cost of solution may make more extensive and prolonged use unfeasible
One of the main challenges with Palo Alto Networks Prisma Access is that the initial deployment and policy configuration can be complex, especially for large or multi-location environments.
