The platform is user-friendly, though you still have to be somewhat data-literate to use it. Pre-built charts and visualizations are very helpful, often giving me ideas on how to find something before I know what I want to do.

- Product analytics: funnels, retention, pathing and user journeys are clear and fast to run. - Cohorts and segmentation: easy to build behavioral cohorts and compare groups over time - Strong SDKs and Integrations : works well with web/mobile SDKs and can send data to warehouses or other tools
Some key limitations have caused me trouble. For one, you cannot setup a cohort that measures a given activity within the last hour across your whole user-base. That filter can only be applied to users less than 90 days old, the first time they do that activity. This is a really weird limitation, and prevents us from creating dynamic cohorts that show feature-usage in close to real time. Moreover, synced cohorts are very useful for integrating with other tools to trigger processes for example, but on lower plans you only get 5 synced cohorts and can't do a real-time sync. Very limiting. Also, though the range of reporting templates is extensive, they can only be customized to a certain extent and there are limitations in the way you can combine data in these reports.

- Instrumentation effort: you need a solid tracking plan and some engineering time up front. It can get messy quickly. - Learning curve for non-analysts: Some concepts (event schema, cohorts, conditional funnels) take time to learn. - Feature overlap with other tools: If you already have a CDP or BI setup, some functionality may feel duplicated - Pricing at scale: costs rise with event volume and feature tier, keep an eye on sampling and design to control spend

Amplitude Analytics is an invaluable tool for us in Digital and Business Intelligence, what I enjoy especially is the flexibility to customise and create cohorts where I can control the data I'm looking at and create comparisons that have true business impact.
