Unlike traditional SPM solutions that lock you into predefined modules and dashboards, Anaplan offers much greater flexibility to design models exactly the way you want. We were able to meet all of our requirements without running into any major limitations. I also liked the wide range of integration options it offers. We were a bit unsure at first how Anaplan would fit into our overall enterprise tech stack, but being able to leverage existing datasets from our data lake and move data easily between systems made the rollout much faster. Another big plus is the scalability - you can start small with a single use case without a major IT investment and expand into other use cases/areas of business as needed, enabling connected planning without needing separate tools for each function.
1. Provides necessary information 2. Limited functionality creates a bit easier experience (less buttons to click) 3. Decent support
Scalability and flexibility are the cornerstone features of the product, which eliminate the errors associated with Excel based approaches. The calculation engine Hyperblock which processes large amounts of data in the cloud, is the foundation that powers the tool. The ability to customize for any type of planning be it sales, finance, supply chain, headcount etc helps in exploiting synergies of different orgs. In addition, the new features like combined grids, ADO, geo-mapping etc will definitely make it a serious product in the market.
The platform is powerful, but it requires technical expertise to build and maintain models effectively. It's not something a business user can configure on their own. Some basic features like notifications are not built-in. Having automated email notifications and integration with tools like slack would make it easier to alert users. Lastly, the platform currently lacks AI features - having chatbots integrated with dashboards for quick answers/ guidance would significantly enhance the user experience.
1. Limited functionality to customize user experience 2. Slow adoption to new features and user interface options 3. Basic layout, nothing exciting or innovating
More AI features are required for the increasingly competitive industry. The product roadmap is already filled with AI roadmap so it is just a matter of time. The tool is costly and the pricing definitely needs to be standardized and made transparent for all customers. There should also be a focus on replacing visualization tools by bringing in visual planning. This has been addressed with the geo-mapping feature that is released recently but Anaplan should be bringing in and constantly improving features like these. On the upstream, the integration ability with other systems should be made easily. ADO is definitely a game-changer, but it needs to be bi-directional.
