Product Information on Microsoft Azure

Updated 13th October 2025

What is Microsoft Azure?

Microsoft Azure is a cloud computing software that offers a range of services including virtual machines, databases, networking, storage, artificial intelligence, and analytics. The software enables organizations to build, deploy, and manage applications across a global network of data centers. It allows users to scale resources as required and supports multiple operating systems and development frameworks. Azure provides tools for security, compliance, and disaster recovery to help address business continuity challenges. It is designed to support workloads from simple web hosting to complex data analysis, allowing businesses to optimize infrastructure management and operational efficiency.

Microsoft Azure Pricing

Microsoft Azure software uses a pay-as-you-go pricing model, where charges are based on usage of resources such as computing, storage, networking, and other services. The software also offers reserved instance pricing options for certain resources, enabling cost predictability over a fixed term. There are free tier options for eligible usage, and additional enterprise agreements for organizations seeking customized pricing and billing structures.

Microsoft Azure is one of the best cloud computing platform available for the businesses, educational institution or even government organizations with the top-notch services like data management, infrastructure, security management, applications and digital transformation initiatives. Microsoft Azure has many strong areas and one of the is identity management. Businesses or companies can check the details of all the permissions, activities or processes through identity management like access control, security policies user authentication and single sign-on through Microsoft Entra ID. Identity management helps businesses to improve both user experience and security. Metered Billing is the payment model used by the Microsoft Azure and in this model payment amount is calculated on the basis of resource consumption. Through this model businesses avoid paying for the large infrastructure costs upfront. As Azure has many data centers in multiple regions of the world so it has extensive global coverage. Because of its global network, businesses easily provide strong services closer to their users. Microsoft Azure also provides strong recovery and backup management features which helps organizations to get automatic backups of their files, databases, applications and other important information in a short period of time during unexpected events or data loss.

Overall, Azure is not that great to me in some areas and excellent in others. VM's work great. Never had an issue running a vm. Try to start adding backups, networks, redundancy etc.... this get complicated really quick. Microsoft seems like that really want to purposely keep things complex on purpose. It is never easy to find what you need. Security is in a bunch of different places. Also, everything when you think you learned where something is, Microsoft deprecates it or moves it somewhere else.

Microsoft Azure Offers Broad Services But Portal Stability Remains a Challenge

    5.0
    Mar 4, 2026
One of the great things we like about Microsoft Azure is that it has a consistent identity and access infrastructure whether it be Entra ID, RBAC, Conditional Access, everything works in sync. Another thing is simplified lifecycle operations, like for VM's it has native support for managed disks, backups, monitoring etc. Security is also great, you can have rule based NSGs at the subnet and NIC level. App services are good and offer multiple deployment slots, environment separations and rollbacks.

Migrating to Azure Centralizes IT Operations but Presents Cost Control Challenges

    4.0
    May 12, 2026
For several years we have used Azure for most of our infrastructure, with excellent results after migrating our on-premises services to the platform. Azure has proven to be reliable and scalable. Its suite of native services has allowed us to centralize workloads with a single cloud provider, which has simplified operations and reduced operating costs. From our IT perspective, the platform has proven stable, with very limited service interruptions over time. Currently, Azure is not just a provisioning environment for us, but a long-term IT strategy

Microsoft Azure Delivers Strong Integration and Security With a Steep Learning Curve

    4.0
    Mar 3, 2026
My overall experience with Microsoft Azure has been positive, particularly in the areas of scalability, integration with existing Microsoft ecosystems, and comprehensive security. Azure's widespread global data centers improve performance, redundancy and disaster recovery options. While powerful, Azure has a steep learning curve. With so many policies and configurations, sometimes you can find it overwhelming.

The initial complexity of using Azure contrasts with its flexible and robust integration.

My experience using Azure was quite positive. It has a high degree of maturity, is very stable and reliable, and internally offers a wide variety of services that cover everything from basic infrastructure to very advanced solutions with data integration, analytics, and AI. It boasts high availability, performance, and very high security standards. For new users, it may seem quite complex at first.

Performance of Microsoft Azure Across Market Features

Microsoft Azure Likes & Dislikes

Like

I like many features of Microsoft Azure and one of them is its amazing integration with Microsoft's other products. Microsoft Azure seamlessly integrate with other products like Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Active Directory, Window Server and SQL Server etc. Businesses easily manage their workloads using Microsoft technologies. Another feature of my liking is the security features of Microsoft Azure. The security tools like threat detection, identity protection, encryption and other compliance certifications. These tools help businesses to secure their sensitive data and applications. Another excellent feature of Microsoft Azure is that it provides business a scalable platform in which business can increase or decrease the resources based on specific demand. Businesses do not need major hardware investment for using features because Azure provides flexible scaling options. Microsoft Azure provides many services or features which numbers in hundred including storage, analytics, databases, backup, networking, recovery solutions and virtual machines. And I like this about Microsoft Azure as it provides single platform for businesses to manage many IT needs.

Like

The VM's run great.

Like

- We have on-premises Active Directory servers and it works well with our hybrid deployment - Great security and identity capabilities which has seamless integrations with other services like Entra ID, Fabric, Intune, Enterprise apps etc. - You don't need to worry about compliance since it meets all compliance and regulatory requirements. It provides all the required documentation no matter if it's for datacenter validations, for GDPR and more

Dislike

Microsoft Azure is very amazing and has many positive features but there are also some downsides of Azure. One of the downside is that Azure provides huge number of features and services to the businesses with different configuration options. Because of huge bulk of information new users become overwhelm and find difficulty to use platform. After that businesses has to conduct training for the employees which helps them to comfortable with cloud management. Another downside of Microsoft according to me is that their support cost sometimes is very high. Microsoft Azure provides basic support anytime but the premium support they provides sometime become expensive for the businesses that required advanced technical assistance or faster response time. Because of this businesses has to pay extra charges for the support which increase the overall cost of the companies.

Dislike

Azure is a very complex tool. Nothing was designed to make management simple for the administrator.

Dislike

- You need strong tagging in order to optimize cost and get a clear picture - Performance sometimes feels sluggish - Portal is also a bit overwhelming and goes down frequently
