BOX consulting and success management is a top tier organization within BOX. Their excellence in identifying use cases, developing solutions, and delivering results that are aligned with strategic initiatives is both impressive and affordable. The platform itself is highly customizable and offers a wide range of value for both small and enterprise sized companies.
Security is a strong point - it's easy to set up and check permissions at a granular level. Expiring links were particularly useful. Works equally well across desktop and mobile platforms. It is well supported, both at a professional and community level.
Sharing documents and photos of work for peers outside of my organisation has been good with Box using the web portal. I need to work with others outside of my organisation and Box enables the easy facilitation of file sharing, whilst also feeling secure. Permissions management is also easy for those who can view and those who can edit.
There are areas in which certain features feel as though they were developed to launch but not further invested in as new features are brought to market. An example of this is File Request, a top used feature for our users that has minor customizations that lack value due to limitations. The same could be said for Relay, its workflow engine offers modest value as compared with true workflow engines and introduces just enough to make minor efficiencies but nothing that has significant value to the end user. That said, relay is seeing new investment for the Enterprise Advanced tier that are much more aligned with my expectations including conditional workflows, IFTT logical arrays, and extensibility into metadata that goes beyond singular uses such as renaming files or folders.
Cost is the main issue - for a business of our size and with our particular use case, it becomes rather expensive. Some of our customers experienced difficulties uploading files to shared folders, which led us to switch this functionality to a different tool. Search is not as powerful as other similar file storage tools.
Sometimes files can be overwritten if not managed carefully, but the process enables file recovery if an accidental deletion of a file or document takes place. I have found it to be challenging at times to control document versions if many people are sharing and collaborating on the same document.
