Box Pricing

Box software uses a subscription-based pricing model, offering multiple plans that vary by storage capacity, number of users, and included features such as collaboration, security, and administrative controls. Subscription plans are typically charged on a per user, per month basis, with options for individuals, small teams, and larger organizations. Enterprise plans include advanced features and customizations. Free trials may be available for some plans.

We utilise Box for external file-sharing with clients and freelancers for design work. It is a very simplistic, yet efficient tool for sharing and receiving any files and documents required. Allowing lots of control over who has access to your documents, how they are shared and for how long. I find it to be a very good tool however, the licensing of an account can be confusing and quite expensive for the product provided.

Box Likes & Dislikes

Like

My favourite feature of Box is how simplistic file-sharing is, there are no complex menus or fiddly steps to share files, simply upload your document into Box and then share it via email or link and you can even set a valid time for the access, allowing more control of your date. Another feature I like is being able to view documents natively in the web version of Box, making it very easy for anyone to view a document without having to download the data, saving time. Finally, I find the desktop app offered by Box to be fantastic, mounting your Box files into your File Explorer as if it is an external drive or network drive, making it easier for less technical users to utilise the platform.

Dislike

Cost is the main issue - for a business of our size and with our particular use case, it becomes rather expensive. Some of our customers experienced difficulties uploading files to shared folders, which led us to switch this functionality to a different tool. Search is not as powerful as other similar file storage tools.
