Coursera Likes & Dislikes

Like

1. The range of videos and courses that exist on the platform is incredibly impressive. I was able to search through a catalog of training courses and select the one that best fit my needs. 2. I appreciate that the learning is done asynchronously, providing me with the flexibility I need to move through the training at my own pace and on a schedule that is most convenient to me. 3. If I ever had a follow up question about a topic that was covered in the training video, I could consult the community discussion forums to solicit advice/support from other Coursera users. This was incredibly beneficial to my learning and development!

Nice offer, opportunities to learn and diverse training options

Like

You can learn anything at your own pace because most of the courses are on demand. The video player offers high-resolution video and you can select to enable or disable subtitles if they are available at the course. The platform offers multiple languague options and you can toggle between them if the course allows it.

Dislike

1. I would take the ratings of different courses with a grain of salt, because not every review is reflective (both good or bad) of the course that you might decide to take. 2. I wish that there was a tool/feature within Coursera that held me accountable to completing the training course in a more time-bound way. I was very flexible with my schedule and went through one of the trainings in almost 6 months, which wasn't the most efficient use of my time. I hope that the platform offers built-in reminders to complete the course, ensuring that it is done in a timely fashion. 3. Although I received a PMP through the PMI network, I never received a certificate of completion for the prep course that I took through Coursera. It would be nice to be able to promote the completion of the course on my LinkedIn to highlight the new skills and knowledge that I have acquired.

Dislike

subscription-only model

Dislike

The grades often depend on other students who need to review them, some of them are lazy and the feedback gets slow. Free access is restricted to only watching the videos of the courses. If you want to do some assignments and homework, you need to pay for a subscription. You might often find old and outdated courses, it is kinda hard to find the newest stuff.

High-Quality Courses Led by Professors Offer Structured Learning

    5.0
    Nov 18, 2025
Courses feel very structured and well planned. Many of the courses are being taught by actual university professors. The platform is user-friendly with an updated look and feel. The price tag is relatively high, but with a high ROI, especially for people who value in-depth courses and certifications.
