The platform gives you early wins, and when you have instrumented the one-agent and real user monitoring you can very quickly see issues within applications and infrastructure and identify issues that could be causing revenue loss. Early wins really support the business case and provide solid ROI

- DQL features are quite easy and helpful in giving users power to query for any level of data that dyntrace has stored in grail and display in dashboard - Biz events is another feature that I like as it provides greater deals of metrics for business stakeholders - Distributed traces is quite useful in analyzing problems for individual transactions as it stitches together transactions very well

I think DQL can be complicated but with new AI features, using natural language is helping customers to have DQL queries created for them. I would like to know more about the prompts within the AI model

- Admin privileges could be broken down to app level . What I meant to say here is in larger companies, it is tough to give admin privileges for app teams and the APM platform team is the one who usually have access. If there is a way to split admin privileges to app teams with a different level of access, then we could help in configuring app specific alerts and configurations - Support for mainframe - Distributed traces misses those calls to mainframe jcls and cobol processes which could improve - More new features create a bit of complexity for teams to pick up newer skills but this one can be overcome as Dynatrace provides great trainings for users

How are you approaching Observability in the Cloud across both non-prod and prod environments? Are you paying for a tool (e.g. Dynatrace) across all environments or only production? If only production, are your devops teams able to use the tool effectively in production after not having used it in development? If across all environments, how is the cost not prohibitive? Or, did you manage to accept it as a cost of doing business?

Instead, consider a 'problem-first' mindset: pinpoint specific observability needs in both non-prod and prod environments before selecting tools. If using tools like Dynatrace across all environments, ensure they’re utilized effectively by your DevOps teams. For those managing costs, evaluate if a tool’s expense is justified by its value and how it contributes to overall efficiency. Balancing cost with effectiveness is key to a sustainable observability strategy.

Curious to hear how organizations are leveraging observability tools in relation to their ITSM platforms. Where is the source of truth for SLAs/SLOs? How is application dependency mapping handled? Is there integration between the two technologies? We are using Dynatrace (observability) and ServiceNow (ITSM), for reference.

Servicenow + Dynatrace is a decent combination. Although, it would be better to maintain the product/app dependencies in a separate system, infra dependency in Servicenow, observability in dynatrace/splunk/grafana

Its extensibility helps us onboard new applications even if there aren't official or community extensions available.
