I like the accuracy of the AI briefs, the ability to share specific deals internally with key conversations, and how well it keeps me organized by capturing the majority of the customer conversations I'm having rather than me having 50 different google docs of notes. Sending clipped recordings to our internal teams to review tickets, enhancement requests, or product feedback is extremely helpful. Our customers also enjoy the recordings and it keeps our teams accountable. For training, it's extremely useful to have a library of recorded meetings to distribute to new stakeholders.
It's great to be able to track how well the team is doing when communicating with our Customers. It does a great job of bringing Customer pain points and successes front and center.
We've launched Gong Foundation and Forecast Essentials and have received strong positive feedback in the early months of the team leveraging these modules. Our Sales, SE, and BD Teams are using Gong for call recording and call intelligence, while our Marketing Team has begun to dig into call themes and topics using Gong's powerful AI analysis capabilities. We're leveraging the AI-driven forecasting signals which provide deeper insights than we have had in the past from our prior tool. Next up, we are looking forward to launching Gong Engage for our prospecting efforts across Sales and BD as a replacement for our prior tool.
I believe the AI follow up emails could use improvement. I rarely use them and rely on other third party AI to write my follow up emails using a gong recording or transcript. If I had more trust in the follow up emails in Gong it would save me more time. Creating AI Briefs (account or conversational) isn't really intuitive for the basic end user and I've struggled without training to capture what I need. I believe in the product and the few that have been set up for us work really well, but if those were easier it would really take a lot more work off my CSMs team plate for things like Account Reviews, Book Transitions, At risk records, etc.
While the tool is strong, there are a few things that are not great: 1) They want to keep all call knowledge in Gong which means it doesn't play nice with other tools 2) The AI in Gong isn't as powerful as other tools currently in the market 3) They are taking pieces that are core to the users now and making them additional fees
The modularized nature of the tool made our evaluation a bit confusing and challenging to navigate, both from a cost and licensing perspective. Gong requires a Foundation seat as a base license for users to gain access to any other module of the platform such as the Sales Forecast. This proves to be cost prohibitive when we have ELT members who simply require access to check in on the Sales Forecast once weekly. We are required to pay for this team member to have call recording capabilities (Gong Foundation license) in order to also purchase access to the Sales Forecast (Gong Forecast license) as the Forecast license is not sold as a standalone product. I would encourage Gong to re-evaluate their licensing model as this would improve adoption and bring more paid 'Collaborator' type users onto the platform.
