The product seems to be well liked by users and the product people who actually manage the day-to-day operations of the communities. We've never experienced any extended downtime and their technical staff is easy to get a hold of when required.
The main things we adore about Higher Logic is the ease of use, the creative capacity, and the functionality offerings. Overall, Higher Logic has been quite easy to implement and use for our company, and doing everyday tasks on the platform has not created problems. We have been able to shine creatively using the platform, and I think their capacity for personalization is impressive and is truly highlighted. Lastly, I think the functionality on their platform is overarching and covers a lot of what we are looking for.
When operating in multiple communities accessed from different applications in your enterprise, there is limited ability on the HL side to customize how links in the digest emails they send out operate. There can be only one endpoint, meaning users need to be consolidated onto one platform before all links in all digest emails work properly.
The 3 main pain points we have had with Higher Logic are the major bug or performance issues we have experienced, the customer service process, and the lack of shared knowledge around how to best use the program. We have experienced a few major bugs or site shutdowns since we started using Higher Logic that have seemingly come out of nowhere. They have been fairly quick at fixing the issue, but we were never quite able to figure out exactly why the issue had happened in the first place. The customer service is typically good, but occasionally we are faced with vague answers or not the help we are looking for. Lastly, I think there could be some work done on creating more shared resources on how to best use the platform and what features exist.

Higher Logic has been up and down to work with, and I think our experience as a company has been overall positive, but there is certainly room for improvement. Higher Logic has allowed us to create a beautiful website and platform, and the ease of use is a huge positive. Overall a solid community offering but has some odd technical limitations that limit functionality and features when operating multiple communities. For technical teams implementing into an existing app, there are some API's exposed and a few SSO details that help with user syncing.
