Overall, working with Qlik Talend Cloud has been a mixed but mostly positive experience on my end, however it also depends a lot on what you expect from it and how mature the data setup on one's own end already is. From a day-to-day usage standpoint, the biggest win I would say is the speed of setup and integration. We were able to get the pipeline running much faster than with older on-prem ETL tools. The connectors are solid, especially for common databases and cloud warehouses, and the CDC works reliably once you've configured it properly. This has saved us a lot of manual effort in keeping data in sync. However, where it really stands out is in its end-to-end coverage, since it's not just ETL we're doing, we also get data quality, governance and integration into analytics in one ecosystem. This heavily reduces tool sprawl. That being said, it also has some downsides. The biggest recurring pain point is debugging and transparency. When something breaks in a pipeline, the error messages aren’t always helpful, or at least not as helpful as I was expecting. I had to sometimes dig through a lot of logs. Compared to writing code-based pipelines, we do lose a bit of control and visibility. Another issue I experienced was performance-based tuning. For simple pipelines, it works as intended. But as things scaled or got complex, optimization wasn't always easy or straightforward, since we don't really have the same fine-grained control, we'd otherwise have with custom solutions. The UI is decent at best and after prolonged use we started noticing workflow friction. Personally, I've noticed that certain repetitive tasks can be smoother, and version control isn't as seamless as modern dev tools. Net-net, I would say the experience has been more positive than negative.
