my overall experience with Gemini has been positive so far, especially for tasks involving real-time info and integration with Google's vast ecosystem. Its handling capacity of multiple inputs is cool and the speed of retrieving data and processing it is exceptional. However, I noticed that it sometimes lacks the depth and nuance found in other models during the creation of complex creative and reasoning tasks. Github Copilot can make some tedious work faster, such as writing repetitive variables, inferring simple continuations of what you are writing, but it has its issues. It will be inconsistent when offering help some time refusing to do some actions, and then doing them if you keep asking for help with the same prompt. The auto-write feature can also be very intrusive, to the point where a lot of people in my company found more usefulness in turning it off entirely. Also, at the time of this review, sometimes it can get in the way of the compiler being set up with certain integrations as an extension, and the only way to bring up said compilers is to disable, restart, and then enable copilot again. Being the first AI-native IDEs, it is way ahead in bringing new features and the UX, code suggestions and agent works way better than others. The recent multi-agent interface is just amazing; allowing our devs to use multiple agents in parallel and then pick the best solution. Sandbox terminal is also quite handy in saving time in writing and running commands manually. Our experience with Augment has been excellent and have been using it for over 6 months with about 70 users. We transitioned from a competitor product after using it for a year. We found Augment to have better context awareness for our existing large code base with more accurate and relevant autocomplete and chat, with lower latency, and had great IDE support. Beyond the engineers, we love the Slack bot which has been a game changer. This allows product managers and customer facing teams to self-serve technical information and product behavior questions without escalating to engineering. This lowers our overhead and gets answers to customers faster. The chatbot is also handy for doing technical planning, generating requirements docuemnts, technical plans, etc. We also like the high-touch support with a shared slack channel and regular detailed usage and adoption reports. I tend to use it for short tasks that take 3-5 minutes of agent time, which would have taken me 30-40 minutes of work.
