Cursor has completely changed how I approach my work. Honestly, I'm not sure I could keep up with my current projects without it. I've used it to build out a full Detection-as-Code framework and to get far more value out of our SIEM, particularly around SOAR and automation. The planning mode has been especially useful for breaking complex projects into clear, time-bound phases. It's helped me stay on track while also allowing Cursor to reason through and support genuinely complex tasks alongside me.

I love how Cursor can use different AI models dependent on the tasks, I use Opus for complex tasks that require good reasoning (more on this in the dislikes!) and composer for everyday tasks. It's a nice system once you understand what model is good at what tasks. I also like how Cursor fits into my engineering workflow. It doesn't feel like a gimmicky chat bot that's been bolted on, it can understand context across files and helps me move faster without losing control of what's happening. Another big win is how good Cursor is at working through problems with me instead of just giving me answers. I can have it challenge me or help me refine my ideas to improve the quality of what I deliver, not just how fast I can deliver.

The variety of models that you can use and quick views on tracking your usage. The agents and sub-agents process makes your work go by super quick with just a few prompts once you have your Skills and Rules setup in Cursor.

I hate how they changed the pricing/token model to enforce MAX mode for the newest AI models, I understand why this changed, but it still stings that I need to burn through our companys tokens to get the high level of work done or spend 5 times as long working with an older free model. Another frustration is that for very large tasks, context can sometimes drift or get lost, which means you have to restate intent or constraints more often than you'd expect. It's not a massive issue and more of a nitpick, but when you're working through a complex, multi-step task it can interrupt the flow. I'd also like some more transparency and control around token usage. It's not always obvious how expensive a given task is going to be until you're already committed, which can cause issues between prioritizing speed or costs within our team.

As a Windows user, it has been a bit frustrating to follow all of the small incremental updates Cursor makes to the tool. Because of a bug/issue with their in-tool updater and crashes on Windows, we have to do a complete uninstall and reinstall whenever there's an update. If they can work on the Windows user experience, that would fuel more adoption within the industry.

This is a great tool for novice programmers who have been tasked with transitioning many processes over to a different coding language. With many LLMs to choose from, Cursor enhances the experience with built-in features like Skills and Rules. These help your overall "workflow", especially on projects like mine, where I was taking XML files and converting them into Python pipelines. The UI is easily customizable and getting onboarded to use Cursor was a breeze with so many helpful online trainings. My company provided "Cursor Days" that was persona based, and having use cases like designers and PMs using Cursor really expanded how myself and my team use Cursor - not just for coding, but also for creating decks and documentation. Each time I have Cursor convert my XML files to Python, I ask it to create a Mermaid diagram and then push it to Confluence. It is so quick! The ability to connect to various MCP Servers within Cursor unlocks so much -- and it's so easy to connect too! You can just prompt Cursor to do it for you!

Cursor has significantly improved the productivity at work. We love the AI agent and their capabilities. Large projects are much better managed and cursor does a great job at code stages like testing deployment and production debugging too. We love the fact that Cursor has great understanding of our architecture once fed with the right information, it is able to manage large projects end to end with little to no guidance from senior devs.

Cursor experience has been amazing AI Vibe coding editor that we have onboarded in our company more than 6 months ago. Being the first AI-native IDEs, it is way ahead in bringing new features and the UX, code suggestions and agent works way better than others. The recent multi-agent interface is just amazing; allowing our devs to use multiple agents in parallel and then pick the best solution. Sandbox terminal is also quite handy in saving time in writing and running commands manually. Our front-end developers are loving the browser integration. for debugging.
