Performance of Braze Customer Engagement Platform Across Market Features
Braze Customer Engagement Platform Likes & Dislikes
- Canvas with all the messaging steps available, - SQL Query Builder with AI assistant, - Drag and Drop editor, - duplication between different workspaces, - Connected Content, - Catalogues, - API-Triggered messaging
My favorite part of Braze was the ability to contact users in-app, without any overhead or bottlenecks from our engineering team. We also appreciated their privacy focus, as that's something very important to our company and end users. User Segmentation was also a great tool in the app that we used to understand our range of personas in order to customize the experience to specific ICP's.
Strong flexibility and customisation Very self serviced oriented but support available if needed Ability to build complex and tailored campaigns/initiatives with multiple options for segmentaion The frequency of useful updates and new features that add greater flexibility
As mentioned above: - uneven development focus - hyped features vs. basics, - eCommerce focus on the platform, - small caveats with many features - e.g. certain data infrastructure needed, specific amount of data needed - you can get hyped about feature announcement and then find out it is useless for your brand.
I didn't like how it could be un-customizable at times, especially with in-app pop-ups. Our end users are very sensitive to us using third-party vendors, and we have a very specific and niche design language that we use within the UI. If we give them a pop-up that doesn't follow that visual pattern that is so established, it can very quickly break down trust in our product. We also looked into implementing content cards into a homepage experience using Brave, and it wasn't feasible after exploring those capabilities, mostly more struggles around customization
Limited focus on improving existing features and fixing smaller bugs Updates often prioritise full reworks instead of incremental quality of life improvements Overemphasis on AI features that do not always add meaningful value Some AI tools feel unnecessary compared to more practical improvements to best use case for current strengths of AI (i.e. coding support)

Long-Term Platform Use Highlights Reliable Data Handling and Community Engagement
I've been working with the platform nearly 10 years, now in my 3rd company using it. What I like the most: - reliable and flexible data connectivity (import and export), - good documentation (e.g. 'see me in Postman' for REST Endpoints), - intuitive and easy to use, - making complex tech comprehensible for non-tech team members, - matching well Marketing Engagement requirements towards building an omni-channel CRM, - strong Customer Success Managers, - Team is open for feedback, listens to the Customers and keeps improving the product, helpful in looking for workarounds when something is not available out-of-the-box, - great community around the product (e.g. Braze Bonfire, all events). What could be improved: - pace of updates can be hard to follow, - dashboard customisation per relevant features or per user role would be helpful, - help tickets becomes less helpful as you grow more experienced - responses do not match expectations/ depth, - uneven development focus - newer features get lots of attention (e.g. AI, WhatsApp) while basic ones remain untouched (e.g. clicks include unsubscribe clicks or opens include machine opens, leading to the wrong idea about the message engagement), - platform develops a lot in the direction of frequent usage, high retention brands, not always matching reality of the slower businesses (e.g. limitation to event count in the last 30d). - Manager, Product Marketing50M-1B USDSoftwareReview Source
Powerful and flexible, but needs a stronger focus on refining existing features rather than chasing trends like AI at the expense of core functionality and long term maintainability of new features
I really appreciate the flexibility Braze offers. It is highly customizable and if you can think it, there's probably a way to do it. It allows for very independent creation with few human resources. Also, if you can't do something now, it will come in future updates. I do appreciate the regular updates, however, I would like to see a focus on more smaller quality of life updates to existing features. It feels like the only way these existing components or features do get improved or fixed is during a full rework. Another slight detraction is I don't appreciate all the focus on ai features I feel a lot of them are superfluous and sound cool but don't add any real value. The ones I apprciate are the code help ones but some focus on syntax styling for braze and improving these would be better rather than the "smart" segment and creative focused uses. - Marketing Manager10B+ USDRetailReview Source
Beauty Retailer Review of Braze's Mobile Messaging Services
Really enjoy working in the Braze platform. The ability to manage multiple digital marketing channels in the same platform has allowed us to build cross-channel journeys all in the same platform. Additionally, when we are integrating any new data streams, multiple digital marketing teams are able to leverage the new data reducing the amount of integration work needed. - MARKETING DIRECTOR50M-1B USDTelecommunicationReview Source
Braze Enables Complex Campaigns But Requires Involved Data Integration Process
We have a long-term relationship with Braze and have expanded the number of channels we are utilizing in our customer marketing initiatives through Braze over the past year. - Manager, Product Marketing1B-10B USDConsumer GoodsReview Source
A powerful, scalable, user friendly platform which makes our lives easier
We've had a very strong experience with Braze, as our CRM has matured beyond basic campaigns into more sophisticated, event driven lifecycle and loyalty use cases. What's worked for us is Braze's ability to sit at the centre of our engagement stack and react to real customer behaviour in real time.
