Performance of Akeneo PIM Across Market Features
Akeneo PIM Likes & Dislikes
- AI writing tool is a big one, at least for us. Being able to go in and write a prompt for an attribute that is then filled in across an entire product model is a massive way to save time and energy. - Activation portal. Specifically, the prebuilt connections within the activation portal which are easily accessible and save a ton of time. The fact that you can open up the portal, find your desired amazon connection, and instantly plug in and get real time data feedback from (in our case) one of our larger ecommerce platforms will be extremely valuable once we have that up and running. - Generally the ease of use. Specifically the import and export process and the amount of variability you can put in. We aren't even fully off the ground yet with PIM and we are finding use cases for data exports that we are directly tailoring to specific requests, and the fluidity behind it makes it that much quicker for us so we don't have extensive data gaps for our retailers.

1) User-friendly interface for business users The UI is intuitive, making it easier for merchandising and content teams to edit attributes, manage categories, and bulk-update data 2) Flexible data modeling through families, attributes, and reference entities Akeneo provides strong structure options that helps centralize product information consistently across multiple brands 3) Clear product roadmap with continuous SaaS improvements Akeneo is actively enhancing the platform, including work on business units, improved asset segmentation, and generative-AI enrichment capabililties. 4) Good collaboration with the Akeneo Team (both technical AND customers success team) Their product managers and technical resources were engaged and transparent when discussing gaps, constraints, and roadmap alignment.
Not sure if I can directly think of 3, but I can try: - As mentioned before, the category codes being unilaterally grouped into one category header makes category exports painful to try and sift through, especially when you have 2500 categories. A more tiered or hierarchical approach to category call outs would be easier to read on a category export and would allow for easier integration across other platforms or services. As an example, instead of calling my Bolts folder the same thing as my Zinc Coarse Thread Grade 2 Hex Bolts folder, call my Bolts folder the great grandparent and my subfolder the great grandchild. - There isn't directly an ability to link Akeneo platforms to my knowledge. This would be a great feature to add for customers who may have customers of their own that also use Akeneo. In our case, we have a fairly large customer of ours currently implementing Akeneo, and it would be extremely streamlined for both parties if we had some connection capability which fed their system with our product data directly. - I guess maybe the inconsistency in the auto generation of labels/codes? Certain label fields will automatically create codes for you, while others require a manual input. This leads to inconsistent code formatting across the PIM, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but does look a little clunky on an export.
import / export profil management of users rules, more automation and possibility to copy/paste data between product model to simple product
1) Limitations in variant model structure for apparel The inability to support more than 3 variant axes (when Shopify also restrics variants) required compromises in product modeling 2) Asset management constraints and transformation limitations Lack of built-in automated resizing pipelines, inconsistant format conversion, and limited segmentation options created operational challenges for our image ecosystem 3) Lack of native multi-business unit support (until upcoming roadmap) Our multi-brand environment required workarounds for permissioning, asset filtering, and content segregation 4) High dependency on precise attribute mapping and external integrations Small inconsistencies between systems (FlexPLM - Informatica - Akeneo - Shopify) required extensive cleanup and validation

Prebuilt Activation Portal Connections Streamline Data Integration Processes
I think overall the system is just a clean and fluid system that is extremely user friendly and simple to understand. The outstanding support from the Akeneo team aside, the actual system itself has some great features and really clear ways to use them. I have been in from the beginning of implementation as a co-lead on the project and am now the primary admin, and I have never once had any glaring issue or question in relation to Akeneo PIM and how the system operates. My only ding would be the category system. I wish that there was a hierarchical structure to the categories that you could see rather than top and bottom level folders being plainly "categories" across the system. This would allow for better integration with external platforms (at least in our case) such as Bynder, where we reworked the taxonomy to fit the structure of our Akeneo categories. We called each layer in Bynder a parent/child/grandchild, etc but do not have a way to translate that through our Bynder connector with Akeneo. - Manager<50M USDIT ServicesReview Source
A powerful and user-friendly PIM that continues to improve, ideal with strong data governance and a clear integration strategy
Our overall experience with Akeneo has been positive in terms of product vision, capabililties, and user-friendly UI. The platform provides strong foundations for managing large catalogs, but we encountered few counstraints related to variant modeling, asset management, and operational workflows when integrating with Shopify and legacy systems. The platform is evolving quickly. Most of our issues and frustration came from Akeneo's partners and not Akeneo itself as they provided excellent support and guiadance. Support from Akeneo has generally been extremely responsive and collaborative, especially when clarifying expected behaviors and roadmap items. - Marketing Manager50M-1B USDConsumer GoodsReview Source
A Flexible, Intuitive PIM That Scales as Our Needs Grow
Our implementation of Akeneo was smooth and straightforward. The platform was easy to configure and integrate. The team was able to adapt to it, with day-to-day users becoming proficient within a week thanks to guided training and solid documentation. Akeneo has significantly improved workflow efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across our operations. It has become our single source of truth, making catalog management, enrichment, and product creation far more streamlined. The support team has also been consistently responsive and knowledgeable; if they didn't have an answer, they connected us with the right expert. - Group Product Manager50M-1B USDRetailReview Source

Our overall experience with Akeneo has been very positive. The platform has given us a much more structured and scalable way to manage product information and enrichment workflows. Choose the best PIM for your Catalogue Data activity
We are using this tool as PIM within a B2B marketplace ecosystem.
