On an overall, Amplitude is a very good tool for product analytics where we are able to look at the real time performance of our application and feature launches which leads us to make quick decisions during the feature release of AB Tests. The speed at which the chart builds for the pre-existing metrics is excellent. Ease of use of the tool makes it self serve in our organization. Which is why it helps to have leaders who can really make quick decisions. On the other hand, the customization of the metrics is really tricky with our own definitions. This also comes with a bit of expense.

Like

Funnel Analysis: Where we can see the user funnel to understand where exactly users drop off and fix the leaking bucket. User Lookup and Session Replay: This is the most enjoyed feature in our org where we are able to debug the features or user complaints by the series of events done by the individual user to provide a better solution. User Lifecycle View: The user lifecycle view split by current, new, resurrected and dormant users provides a better understanding of our current product stickiness or engagement factor which we monitor on a regular basis to evaluate our features.

I would not recommend choosing amplitude over GA. It's tough to setup and has poor traffic attribution capabilities.

Like

1) Integrated Agent. Having an AI assistant embedded directly in the platform is key for me to produce any result I want from the platform with a prompt. 2) Amplitude Guides & Surveys enable me to trigger in app nudges on the spot and get insights at lightning speed. These really close the gap between analytics and action, allowing me to engage with users at the right moments. 3) MCP Integration enables me to query Amplitude directly from Claude Code, achieving maximum context for precision Survey crafting or Dashboard building.

Dislike

The major problem that I have whenever I use this tool is that we are only able to look at one year of data at a time, which forces me to create multiple charts for a single metric to have a year on year comparison. Also, whenever there a change in the definition of the metric or a new metric comes into the org, it is hard to view it amplitude where we use to pull the amplitude data through api and we do our customization. I think this should be solved by providing a querying feature inside the tool like where we can able to query the data through sql queries. And of course the cost of the tool is a bit expensive.

Dislike

- Initial setup is a little challenging and requires a lot of data sanity checks. - Traffic attribution is very poor.

Dislike

1) Event Management is time consuming but necessary nonetheless. Changes to existing analytics present some challenges and overall keeping data sanitized is challenging. 2) Some advanced features such as Compass or Pathfinder have a steep learning curve and it takes time to fully leverage. 3) Guides & Surveys is not fully mobile yet as it started web-first and it gets frustrating to see certain features that we'd like to use being made available (resource center for example) but not being able to trigger it.

    Direct Data Query Features and AI Assistance Improve Analytics Precision and Speed

The depth of segmentation, the intuitive funnel and retention analysis, and the ability to quickly slice user behavior by cohort have made it indispensable. What works exceptionally well is how fast I can go from a business question to a concrete answer, whether that's analyzing subscriber activity, understanding engagement patterns or cross-referencing installs across markets. The MCP integration has taken this even further, letting me query data directly within my workflow without switching context.

    My main function of Product Analytics is well served by the tool especially as the charts Segmentation and Funnel solves 80% of my questions, missing link for me at the moment is deep diving into user flows to get more qualitative insight on why they are dropping off

    A Snapshot of What I Feel About Amplitude

    I really like Amplitude. I was also using other analytics tools before in my previous job. I was pleased with that one as well. One star is missing because I think there might be some improvement areas. I am pretty sure "exclude users who did..." filter doesn't work on my side. I was using this filter in other tool a lot, which is a missing point for me. On the other hand, creating data tables according to the user attributes is not convincing as well. I know this is not a hard data analytics tool and we cannot expect the behave in the same way but for example in our company, our main data analytics source is Amplitude as well. I need more on that part. I also need different funnel windows for different steps. For example if the user installs and starts trial within 24 hours then trial converting within 72 hours, I am not able to set this up easily. I'd like to share more things if needed.
